There were 7 of us and we all had terrific breakfasts. The omelets were light and the Peasant an herbed flavor and tomatoes that was really wonderful and a pleasant surprise! Others in the group had fresh crab benedicts that were light and yummy. The french toast with fruit and creme fruit was delicious. They use only quality, fresh, ingredients and the flavors reflect it.
We came back the next day to get grab a chocolate croissant and an apple tunrover to go. The turnover was one of the best I've ever tasted. Again the cinnamon and flavor was worth savoring...which I did! Eyes close, face to the sky.
Coffee also excellent. Last and....really first, is the great, friendly staff who keep it all moving.
Be aware place is small. The service, atmosphere and food is not. It has a low-key, neighborhood vibe.

La Maison, long noted for scrumptious breakfasts and lunches, is experimenting with dinner. Their website admits only to Friday evenings, but its several nights a week. And a Best Chef in America, Charlie Branford, is the guy in the kitchen. I don't give 5 star ratings, but I had no choice this time. It was AMAZING. Thursday nights are all chef's specials, no regular menu choices. The duck breast, with kalamata's, pesto and sundried tomatoes was perfectly cooked. The side dish of scalloped potatoes was likewise. The carrots were al dente, perhaps a skosh too crunchy but sweet and tasty. My wife's crab and prawn penne was full of fresh shellfish with a great cream sauce, not too rich. Dessert was lemon chiffon cheesecake with a subtle and elusive floral note later revealed as a hint of lavendar. If it was a slow day and they have leftover pastries and you are really nice to them, you might go home with complimentary goodies. We scored two lovely cinnamon rolls, which are unlikely to live until noon tomorrow. How to play this? Keep it to yourself so you don't have to share, or show your friends how much you are on the inside and know about this. . .it's a win, either way.

Arrived about 10"00 or so and good a table immediately. Friendly waiter who took our order promptly. And THEN THINGS WENT TO HELL! We got some of our food - no fresh fruit - good omlet and breakfast sandwich. Three or 4 couples came in and the one waiter couldn't handle the "rush".we were totally forgotten, even though he went by our table every few minutes. No coffee refills, no inquiry about our food.
