This is the third time we’ve stated at the starfish, no house cleaning as of yet, no pool, the beds are spring loaded and will wake you early am. Great bathtub and great views. No amenities…. 200 words

This our second time coming for our anniversary. Our first time we had to request new bedding because there was clearly makeup on our bedding. But we had such a good time, we thought we would try it again. Again, the cleanliness could have been better. When we walked in our room, it smelt damp. Or maybe I felt muggy because there is no AC, our windows/patio glass door clearly hadn’t been cleaned in awhile. There was no service either. Connection was so bad our tv cut in and out every few seconds. If I didn’t have WiFi- I probably would not have even been able to speak to anyone (unless they have a iPhone - iMessage). We would only come again because of the views and guest services is always pleasant. But I will always expect cleanliness is gonna be a hit and miss.

Their credit card authorization system charged us for the entire stay and then after one day they claimed we didn’t pay for it and wanted us to leave unless we paid for the stay again with cash. They attempted to authorize our card multiple times randomly during our stay for amounts from $100-$300 which was very fishy. The front desk staff were rude and and were not helpful in resolving it other than telling us this was a reoccurring issue. We were told to check out and to file a dispute with our bank. Would never stay here again after the terrible service. Days after checkout the original authorization for the ENTIRE two-day stay posted to my account and I was never refunded for the second night. The front desk supervisor MEGAN is incompetent and unfriendly, she refused to take care of the situation unless we paid for the stay twice and continually stated that they never got the money from us and that it would be returned back to our account despite us showing her our bank account with the posted charges. Don’t trust what they say or any receipt they give you, you’re best just to go elsewhere with your money. Instead of fixing the situation and refunding us our money Brittany sent us an email saying we were not welcomed back to the property for “profanity toward their employees.” Not sure how they think they can get away with taking peoples money like that and then banning them from the property when they request a refund. A after finally getting ahold of her after being hung up on multiple times Brittany refused to have a phone conversation with us because we told her we were recording the conversation due to her unprofessionalism and unwillingness to correct the situation. The audacity this property and these women have is astounding as they still claim I owe them for taxes when I am in-fact the person owed for a whole night’s stay and they refuse to give me the money back. I would never go back here to their filthy dirty rooms, no air conditioning, no fans, no screens or screens doors, leaky hot tubs, no beach access, and overall grime, so Brittany can put us on the do-not-rent list right after she refunds us our night’s stay. But instead of owning their mistake and correcting it, they are putting their customer out on the street and having to wait for their bank for the dispute. The night auditors, the front desk staff, and the management must all be incompetent if they’re unable to find the funds that have been taken from us, but something else seems to be going on with how fast they are will to burn bridges and tell people not to come back, doesn’t seem like they want to deal with their financial discrepancies face-to-face… you can tell it’s a scam because they’ll comment something about not being able to afford the stay…blah blah essentially they want you to leave your credit card open for them to rack up as much charges as they can while you’re staying. We actually called the Lincoln City Police to file a police report for the theft of our money and they let us know that even though the hotel stealing our money feels criminal, it’s actually a civil issue that requires suing them In small claims court, so it sounds like the hotel know they’re able to get away with this behavior fairly easy unless you choose to battle with your financial institution and the incompetent staff at the Starfish. Anyone who has ever worked in a hotel knows very well that the night auditors caught this issue days ago and that they are fully aware they received the payment for the whole stay and are just choosing to not give us our money back. It’s obvious that someone sits there and attempts to continually authorize your card for random amounts while you’re away from the hotel, there’s no possible way they aren’t able to find the missing $300. They’re crooks and liars.

Thank you for your candid review. As stated in the response to your previous review, we are sorry you felt the rates were high and not of value. Per our conversation on July 3rd, in regards to the transaction processing, we did attempt to charge your card on file to which it came back invalid every time. Those transactions you see were pending, not posted, and have been returned to your account as we were unable to obtain payment from you. We can not issue a refund as we were unable to obtain the funds. Unfortunately, if you are unable to pay for your stay, we can not let you stay free of charge and did require you to depart as you were unable to pay your bill. Furthermore, your treatment of our team members was disheartening and inappropriate. We do not expect any of our team members to tolerate verbal abuse and for that reason as well as your owed balance, you have been placed on our Do Not Rent To List. We wish you all the best in finding other accommodations on the Oregon Coast.

This hotel has everything to make your honeymoon a delight! We splurged for the romance package and had a top floor room with a private balcony. Jacuzzi tub overlooking the ocean. Super comfortable king and linens with a cozy couch and gas fireplace. This room was PERFECT. We lived in this room foe a week and didn’t want to leave.

We stayed one night spontaneously as another reservation we had wasn’t in a good area. We decided to stay on the coast and man are we glad we did. This hotel is gorgeous and the room was exactly what two tired parents needed for a getaway. The only reason I didn’t rank it excellent was because the front desk staff were a little unhelpful with finding food open that night. They didn’t know what was open around the hotel and that would’ve been helpful.
