The theme of the hotel is a mashup of college memories from a bygone era. Mostly based around the movie "Animal House", which was filmed in Eugene in the late 1970's but was set in the early 1960', the lobby plays 80's hits all the time. The result is a nostalgic step back in time for the parents' of current college students. From Otis Day & The Knights pictures in the bathroom, to Frat house paddles, to the sports memorabilia themed bar & restaurant with no souvenirs less than 30 years old, everything about the Graduate Eugene is meant to evoke warm and fuzzy memories of college good old days for people of a certain age. That said, the hotel is clean, service efficient, and the location great. No complaints, and I appreciated the Graduate's confidence to stand out from the crowd of cookie cutter hotels. All that was missing was a keg of Meisterbrau and a band playing "Louie Louie".More
