We first visited Tidal Raves on our trip up the coast last year and we're pleased to find that the food and ambience are still as good as before. Have eaten here twice recently and every dish we've tried has been creatively prepared with fresh ingredients, nicely plated, and met our finicky expectations.

We always get a lasting impression of a restaurant by its salads: Do the greens and all the other ingredients, including the dressing, look and taste fresh and flavorful? Hard to understand supposedly upscale restaurants who sling bagged salad (you can always tell) with limp & slimy ingredients slopped with a commercial dressing, onto a plate for your first encounter at the table. Happy to say, Tidal Raves makes the effort to deliver a good first impression on this score.

Every fish dish we ordered (that's what we come for) tasted fresh and perfectly cooked (not overdone) with the really tasty sides.

The views from the windows overlooking Depoe Bay are not just lovely; we've easily seen whales close up to the cliff area below the restaurant. Such a fun experience to watch the whales while dining.

Parking isn't easy when it's crowded, but we've always found a place nearby on the street if the smallish parking lot is filled.

The service has been quick and efficient if not overly friendly. The staff seems to work at pace to cover the dining area. It's always been filled to capacity when we've been there, but I don't know about off-season. It seems to be a smoothly run operation, which as tourists we do appreciate. It's been a rare experience for us to find a restaurant which combines great views with really good food.

We arrived on a Sunday evening about 6:30 pm and had a short 10 minute wait. We were seated where we had a great view of the harbor. Our waitress was friendly but not attentive. She only came around when she had to.
We both ordered drinks and they were no good. Food ordered was the seafood pasta with alfredo sauce and fish &chips with a side of clam chowder. The pasta was good, the sauce was light. The chowder tasted fishy. The fish and chips were good but the coleslaw didn't.
I would have given an average rating had the drinks been decent and the waitress attentive.

The dining experience was near perfection. We thoroughly enjoyed the halibut and the clam chowder was the best in the area (sampled five restaurants along a 30-mile stretch of the Oregon coastline). The spectacular ocean views make this a perfect dining location. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5, was the front of the house hosting staff. The host seemed irritated all night long, scowling at everyone and marching around like she hated the place and everyone in it. She was a periodic distraction in an otherwise blissful experience. The waitress was very personable and charmingly funny, but she was spread too thin by management to be as attentive as she clearly wanted to be. They gave her too many tables spread too far apart to provide effective service. If management ran the front of the house as well as they run the kitchen, they would be absolutely perfect.

We just had lunch here and it was overall great. We had 2 seats that overlooked Depoe Bay (beautiful) through large floor-to-ceiling glass and watched whales spout & breach while having an excellent lunch. Gets super busy during lunch, we got lucky by arriving at Noon, long line out the door after that. We had crab cakes, clam chowder, Crab Louie salad, Cioppino, beer and wine = all excellent quality and hot. They had Block 15 Sticky Hands IPA on tap, which is unheard of = fantastic. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
