The experience here is like no other we have had. I believe there are 8-10 rooms total and you would think you are the only ones in the hotel, since you rarely hear anyone else. The views from the room's deck are unbelievable - absolutely mesmerizing. You'll want to just sit there all day watching the harbor seals cavort right in front of the hotel, catch glimpses of Bald Eagles or just watch the waves change as the wind and tides change. But you should really go out and take walks on the beach; low tide is best. There must have been a dozen places within 30 minutes North or South (Otter Crest, Fogarty Beach, Beach at Road's End, Seal Rock etc) to walk on the beach, see dramatic, amazing shorelines and watch the surfers. There is a difficult decision every night between eating in (carryout etc) so you can see the sunset from your room or going out to eat.
On the unexpected side: Due to the small size of the hotel, the front desk is only staffed from 9-6 (I think) each day, although there is a 24 number to call for emergency maintenance issues. Also, the HVAC situation was unusual for this guest from the midwest. There is no A/C: You open the windows to cool the room off (which works since the weather tops out in the mid 60's and is generally windy) and it has provisions for heating (radiant?), though we never needed it. Despite our initial concerns, we did not have any issue staying comfortable over our 5 nights.
One of the aspects that was average was the shower. While in an enormous very nice shower, it was the most confusing set-up I have ever seen. There are 5 nozzles!: Overhead rain, traditional wand head and three horizontal body sprays. Activation of the mechanism(s) to control which nozzles came on (and turning them off) was frustrating, and the temperature control was barely adequate. The hotel provides very detailed instructions on operating the shower, which are needed.
We loved our stay at Whale Cove Inn and will absolutely return. It is a unique, intimate experience and my wife and I loved it.

Room tip: 3rd floor rooms have better views of 20% of the cove, but the first and second floor rooms are closer to the water/seals.

Very clean, quiet and large space. We enjoyed the view so much! While the tub on the balcony seemed odd at first, we thoroughly enjoyed it. The shower is nice, too, once we figured it out. Very comfortable bed, and the fireplace thing is great. I’m looking forward to visiting again!

We checked in all was good. Was told restaurant was open for dinner. Went to our room. Was surprised at how big and spacious. Awesome view of the cove and setting sun. Shower dripped all night, drain backed up and had standing water in shower. Had to hold toilet handle down or wouldn't flush. Sinks would not drain faster then water coming out of faucet. Their restaurant was open for dinner but not for breakfast? We were informed of no breakfast. Also that we were supposed to receive a $40.00 refund which we have not seen. When we went to check out around 830 am there was no one at the front desk. No one answered the phones either. Had to leave key on counter unattended.

Room tip: 3 floor farthest to the east best view

This may be the nicest facility on the Oregon coast. Secluded. Beautiful setting. Thoughtfully designed and finished. Equipped and provisioned to a high standard. Excellent restaurant on site. In all, you get what you pay for. Lincoln City, Depoe Bay and Newport all within easy driving distance.

I stayed there February 22-23. It was my third visit. It is in a great location. One can easily spend the day in Lincoln City and/or Newport then head back for some downtime.

The place has fantastic service. A staff member walks you to your room. He/she will go over how the shower works and all the other room features. The Jacuzzi is always clean. They give you bath salts to use in it. Watching the waves roll in from the Jacuzzi is highly recommended. The view is awesome. In the early morning hours, bald eagles fly around the bay.

The place is super quiet. I have stayed on all of the floors. I never heard my upstairs/next door neighbors. It was very nice not hearing stomping, televisions, or someone's conversation. It is a huge plus that young children are not allowed. I will be back soon.
