The sushi platter was beautifully presented and tasty. The tempura was excellent--light and crunchy. Good service and a comfortable atmosphere.

My husband and I went to Sumin's for our anniversary dinner. We were going to each get a sashimi platter. But then we discovered they now have pho. I am a pho snob. Very picky. So we ended up splitting a sashimi platter, which was WONDERFUL and we split a giant bowl of pho. The pho was GREAT!!! I am so excited to finally have a place nearby that has great pho! Well done!

Fine, good quality Asian food, and highly convenient to the Downtown Area.

The Menu is extensive, and ranges over choices which are Chinese, Japanese and
Korean.

Comfortable and warm in its décor, the small "vest pocket" 5 seat Sushi bar is an
excellent perch from which to watch Susan or Mindi (hence, "Sumin's") expertly
prepare their food.

Long on the "fusion" types of specialties .. but also "solid" on the basic and classic
more "purist" dishes.

Excellent Tempura combinations and, at the "other end" of the meal, a very fine and
freshly prepared "Tamago-Yaki" omelette ... done by the patriarch, Mr. Ko, himself.

Good combinations and daily specials, priced affordably at $ 10.95. Much coming and going from repeat local customers, with a great deal of "take out" making its way out.

The house Sake is "Ozeki" ... as opposed to "Gekkikan" ... and this, to me, spoke a
great deal. Although domestic, this was the house Sake at the gorgeous "Thousand
Cranes" Restaurant, located on the third and terrace floor of the former Hotel Intercontinental in the heart of Japan Town in central Los Angeles. Than which
there was no finer.

There are some small complaints ... one should not be charged for a mug of green tea,
nor $ 6.00 for a bowl of steamed and salted Edamame ... these items are customarily
gratis, and are simply provided to the customers automatically in the greater number of
Japanese restaurants. Also, the complimentary vinegared "Sunomono" is simply roughly chopped cucumber, with rice vinegar poured over it. But these are minor
things.

In the main, very good. Highly recommended.

It's good sushi, especially if you're not a huge fan of sushi or want to have other types of dishes available.

This place was great. Very small but excellent food. My husband ordered from the Chinese menu, I had sushi, tekka maki and a tuna hand roll, miso soup, and vegetable tempura. All very good and reasonably priced.
