We go here often for a nice seafood lunch. Not super expensive and a large meu to choose from Seafood is fresh and good service. Clam chowder is not consistent.

We were running from the Austin heat for three weeks and ventured to McGrath's several times. We love the seafood in the Portland /Vancouver WA area. McGrath's was among the three best we patronized. They have excellent Happy Hour with good choices at lower prices, and we also ate lunch there. The fish is fresh and prepared as advertised. Coconut shrimp, broiled halibut, fried combinations of shrimp, scallops, fish- all delicious. This is a cut above the chain restaurant, although they have more than one location. I wish we were still there !

Visited McGrath's tonight in search of seafood and on the strength of its relatively high ratings, but was let down by the food quality. On the plus side McGrath's has a good complement of staff, a nice quiet ambience for families and couples, and does have a wide variety of offerings on the menu. But of course the heart of a food restaurant is its food. We ordered the seafood astoria at $20 and the halibut parmesan for $25. While the portions were more than adequate the quality of the food was not what we were expecting for the money. The vegetables appeared to be warmed up frozen vegetables, the bread was average, and fish was drowning in sauce in the case of the astoria. The Halibut parmesan was so encrusted in cheese and batter that it might as well have been canned tuna. Yes we could tell it was halibut but it was hard to taste it.

McGrath's used to be one of my favorite seafood restaurants, but, after having fresh-caught seafood meals in small restaurants along the coast this week, I am less impressed with McG's. Clam strips were rubbery and tasteless; pan-fried oysters were overdone, and the salmon was not tasty. None-the-less, if you are in Boise, or some other non-coastal area, McG's is a good alternative.

The Portland area has so many seafood restaurants. McGraths is as good as it gets. All the seafood dishes are excellent including exceptional salads and a nice variety of drinks. The Beaverton location seems a little awkward for the main entrance as it is on the opposite side from all parking. But a stop at Powell’s Bookstore is a nice activity before an excellent lunch at McGraths. The service is friendly and prompt
