“Escape and Rejuvenate!!”

When our accommodation plans elsewhere were thwarted, we phoned explaining our predicament and enquired, hoping there was a chance of a vacancy. Yes there was, but the hosts Dru & Dave would need an hour or so to prepare. The welcome we received was overwhelming, they could not have done more to make us comfortable and "at home". Welcome treats, a lit barrel fire and a hospitable chat over a glass of wine they agreed to share with us. The cabin is quiet, cosy and very comfortable with wildlife abounding...Dru feeds the wallabies in the evenings and whilst they stare at strangers suspiciously, they will eagerly take the food pellets supplied from anyone prepared to share. There is no TV, telephone reception if you are with Optus (limited Telstra) or internet.....but this is a blessing, a true escape from the rat race. There is a supply of books to read, DVDs, CDs and even the old style VCR movie to watch sitting in front of the fire with a glass of wine...the peace and quiet is deafening, the stress of the rat race is forced to leave your body!! We were lucky enough to be staying the night of the solar eclipse and were able to witness the "blood moon" in the most heavenly surroundings!! would love to be there (and we will!) in the warmer months to sit and enjoy a quite pre-dinner drink on the veranda enjoying the stillness and peace Thank you Dru and Dave, for you hospitality and warm welcome for your unexpected/unplanned guests!! You definitely have your very own slice of heaven!

Thank you for your kind comments. We are always happy to help whenever we can, especially when your plans go wrong leaving you high and dry as it were.
We can't arrange an eclipse of the moon for everyone. But we can strive to make your stay eclipse all others and be a highlight of your holiday.
Love to see you and enjoy your company again in the warmer months ahead.
Regards from all including our wildlife.

“Stunning little alpine retreat - perfect for that getaway for two!”

The Love Shack is a quaint little alpine cottage nestled below the stunning Cradle Mountain National Park. Your hosts, Dave and Dru are amazing, and do everything to make you feel welcome, from answering pesky questions prior to the trip, to taking a holiday snap for you to reminisce on your experience later!
This place was nice and cozy when we arrived at 4pm on a wintery July (31st) day, with temperatures outside in the minus figures, but you wouldn't know it inside "The Love Shack" where Dave and Dru had stoked a gorgeous woodfire ready for our arrival.
The wildlife around the property are amazing to see, and you even get some "wallaby pellets" so you can feed the critters yourself!
Breakfast is a lovely spread of goodies for you to make your own, from bacon and eggs to cereals, fruit, bread and spreads (the homemade jams are to die for!), juice and milk, with tea, coffee and hot chocolate.

The location is picture perfect and the wildlife spectacular. From the minute we arrived until we left we felt completely relaxed. Dru and Dave were extremely welcoming and supplied a lovely breakfast selection. The kitchen is well stocked making homely meals easy to rustle up. The cabin is just what you imagine when planning a stay in tasmania especially in these cooler months with such a beautiful fire place. You will not be disappointed when you stay here!

“Quirky comfortable shack in magnificent landscape with everything you need”

Dave and Dru are marvellous hosts, and will do everything they can to make your stay as complete as possible. They encourage and promote protection of the local flora/fauna, and early evening sees numerous marsupial visitors to the front verandah.

The little house is very comfortable and warm, and perfectly equipped with everything you need to cook hearty meals. Every element has been handmade by Dave - balustrades, tables, bench seats are carved from local timbers. The house comes with a great informative range of books to help you identify plant species etc. There are screens to protect against summer bugs, and the setting is glorious in snow (we have now been back several times).

Self-contained accommodation is rare in these parts, and closer to the park places with kitchens tend to be 1m from the neighbouring cabin, surrounded by begging possums stuffed with people's white bread. This place allows one to settle in and enjoy, with friends, the beautiful area
