Situated at the southern end of Lake Saint Clair in the National Park is this delightful lodge where on can get a comforting meal and night of comfortable sleep after perhaps a lengthy walk from Cradle Mountain or 3 hour drive from Hobart or Queenstown in the West. They have a selection of accommodation to suit most. Self contained cabins, backpacker or motor home sites. There is an ala cart restaurant serving high quality dishes or a pub style meals such as burgers and pizza available in the main building with a cosy wood fire. A great selection of whiskies and rum. Something for everyone. You can book a cruise on the lake or just walk about and enjoy nature. There are Brown and Rainbow Trout in the lake so with an inland fishing license one may catch your own dinner. There is a Parks and Wildlife Office connected to the main building offering detailed info on overland walks and activities. This is a centrally located accommodation between Hobart and Queenstown and end of the Overland Walking Track from Cadel Mountain. Close by are other attractions such as the “Wall” a carved history of the area. A place not to be missed if travelling between Hobart and the West Coast.

We 2 pairs of couples booked two rooms for 1 night. We checked in at night ard 8:45 pm and the reception told us their reception would close at 9 pm. So make sure you arrive before 9 pm otherwise u couldn’t check in (We were not notified before). And the only restaurant also closed at 9pm so we didn’t get any meal up in the mountain. Luckily we had some food ( Dont expect you can cook or what, there is only a kettle). After getting the room car, we had to drive to our lodges as they located pretty far away. The road is very dark and no clear instructions were indicated along the way, we found it very hard to finally arrive at our room. Here comes to nightmare, one of the room cards was not working that we couldn’t get in. We called them in vain then drove back to the reception counter and there was no one too. As the receptionist said if we needed any assistance we could go to cabin 6 for help. But there was no one too. We went there several times from 9pm to 11 pm sth. We felt so helpless in such a cold and dark condition. At the end four people were sleeping on one bed....

Next morning, they did not call us back even though we left a phone message. They told us that the key lock was running out of battery so the door could not be opened! That is insane! They should have checked it before!

They should provide assistance to guests who need help in the mid night! As they said cabin 6 could help us, but dont trust them!

If you still choose to stay here, be sure you check in in day time as you can find your way easier and probably get help when sth accidentally happens.

Overall, it is such a nightmare for us.

Stayed for one night in a spa suite. Room beautiful and right on the waters edge. Bathroom beautiful with lovely spa. Was very disappointed that not many people there and they put someone right next to us. Another disappointing aspect was it stated on the website it had a kitchenette with microwave and stove but when we got there it was only tea and coffee making facilities. We had brought food to cook in our room and had to go to camp kitchen.

Overall beautiful room but at $325.00 a night a bit expensive

Walked the overlander track for 6 days and really needed a shower and bed and a warm meal.
Micheal the manager was fantastic and we got a cabin and it was fantastic.
Great pillows and bed and good washing facilities. View of the lake in the morning was incredible.
Great way to finish an amazing walk
Remember to pre book ferry if traveling on the track across the lake!
