Booked during the busy New year period, we picked the Tamar Cove because it had a 2 bedroom room available (2 adults + 2 kids travelling). Motel is a smaller establishment but rooms had everything we expected, including a choice between a bunk bed or single bed for the kids in the second bedroom. Bathroom was bigger than expected, with a good sized shower that was easy to get 2 kids into at once. Kids loved the pool, and had we had a longer stay the BBQ area looked good too. It was very hot on the day we stayed (not the fault of the motel), the room had windows we could open to assist with air flow, and a portable fan that we could move around as needed (this was a god send at the kids bedtime). Lots of easy access to power points and our bed was very comfy. Staff were lovely. We will stay at Tamar Cove the next time we are travelling in the area.

Room tip: All rooms were ground floor with good access, most rooms face the cafe

We had room 7 and found it to be the best motel of our Tassie trip. Donna was the perfect host and the evening meal was second to none ❤️❤️❤️. Would recommend this motel to everyone and the only downfall is that we could only stay one night. Breakfast in the restaurant was also made to perfection

Renovated family room was great. Everything worked & was comfortable to be in. Stefan made us feel at home & staff had a great knowledge of local spots to see.
Good to see that Stefan is renovating the motel room by room in great style, when he's not busy creating yummy breakfasts & attending to visitors.

I think this is the best motel I have ever stayed in. The major attraction was the fact that the bedroom in our unit was quite separate from the sitting area. We booked dinner in the restaurant and had a great dinner. We chose the Seafood Tower, which is fairly self-explanatory, and comprised oysters, prawns, smoked salmon and prawns, battered fish with the customary chips, calamari rings with Sezchuan pepper (a surprise) and at the base a selection of fruits.

Room tip: We were in unit 7 so am unsure as to whether the other rooms have a similar layout.

If you can call a motel boutique Tamar Cove is it. When we arrived Donna, the owner gave us a big Tassie smile and greeting and showed us our room. The room was cosy and even had a mini fridge, coffee & tea supplies, cutlery and even a small kitchenette sink. The bed was very comfortable and the WiFi was good. Donna also operates a restaurant at the motel that serves breakfast, lunch & dinner. We ate dinner there the first night and it was excellent. I recommend the seafood chowder. The restaurant is open all day and provides cafe service outside of meal hours so you can always get good coffee and cake or a light sandwich & beer or wine. The Tamar Cove motel was a great find for us in a beautiful area of Tasmania.
