The mine rescue was very interesting. Old machinery and telephones were great, historic display where good. Gift shop was full of interesting goodies. Good for all ages

Very interesting and well set out, this Centre was worth a visit. Acceptable entry fee, very clean toilets and excellent gift shop as well as a very extensive and informative mine heritage centre. There were lots of fun things to do for all ages and we had a really good time there.

We spent longer than expected here. Like most we were interested in the great mine rescue of 2006. That was done well . Other parts of the museum were really interesting as well. Old telephone display, old machinery, miners hut, interactive panning for gold, history of the area. The volunteer at the desk encouraged us to obtain a 3 pass ticket for the mine plus Platypus house and Seahorse world just up the road at Beauty Point. This is well worth it as you get the 3 passes a little cheaper.

I was not particularly interested in driving out fron Launceston for the visit but I am very glad I did. Like most of Australia I followed the rescue there in 2006 and found the display of this aspect of the mines history very well done.
All of the historic displays showed how everything in mining is so big.

Took time out of during our travels to call in here and wasnt disappointed.
The display centres around the mining disaster at Beaconsfield.
There are photos and movie displays as well as a section dedicated to how they freed the trapped miners.
There's plenty to see and do here and well worth stopping by to check it out.
