Food was average and service was rather poor and certainly without a smile. We felt like we were imposing. Doubt we will return.

Morning tea at the Victory Café with luscious house made chocolate and pistachio brownie and coffee - I love that all the cakes are made in house. The coffee was very good too.
The Victory Café is in the foyer of the Victory Theatre Antique Centre in Blackheath so you can easily spend an hour or two after your meal exploring the huge range of antiques and collectables..
The café has a menu of café classic with breakfast and lunch being served, it can get pretty busy especially on the weekend so be prepared to wait for a table.
I found the staff to be welcoming and the service was good. It was beautiful and warm in the café on a cold winters day.

The food WAS excellent. It is sometimes hit and miss but everything we ate was exceptional this time around.

But the staff...! They are so young and silly. I don't want to hear about who is dating who or who the best looking person in the cafe is. I don;t want to see them sitting around aimlessly, lounging on the counters at the coffe bar/cash register point or flicking through the free newspapers on offer. It would be nice if they were watching the customers in the cafe so they could see all those poor sods trying to catch their attention.

And I certainly don't want to hear a bunch of them laughing and carrying on about a customer they are making fun of. They may have been in the kitchen but half the cafe could hear this. It was really disrespectful.

And I couldn't help but compare it to the young staff who work in the Blackheath General Store around the corner who are incredibly polite, quick and helpful. We had a coffee there after lunch instead of having it at the Victory.

Delicious food and coffee wasn't burnt. Service was ok though the poor boy serving us was obviously new and didn't know how to carry plates or set a table, or what "sunny side up" meant. We just thought it was a bit funny though and he was still perfectly polite so we didn't mind. The place could do with a bit of a visual spruce-up but all-in-all it was a delicious breakfast (we had the Victory Breakfast).

My wife, daughter & I ordered the pulled pork burger and two Guinness pot pies. The fries that came with the meal were received cold and the pulled pork burger was also lukewarm . The pies were filled with liquid and a few pieces of meat floating . Pastry was poorly cooked. There was not that many people in the place as we arrived after 1pm on Monday , so cooking these meals properly shouldn’t be that hard , especially when you are charging $18.90 for a burger!

We were in a hurry as were attending a memorial down the road so didn’t have time to complain and wait for a new meal. we were with a large group of family ( including the widow) and didn’t want to cause a scene and ruin experience for everyone .
