This is an amazing hotel with a twist as it looks medieval, but was built in 1920s. It is a wonderful place in a tranquil setting. The staff were very helpful and went out of their way to help. The food, both dinner and breakfast were to a high standard and very tasty. The portions seemed small, but as it was so rich, you ended up not wanting. The spa was to the same standard with very professional staff. We had a great stay.

This is located in a beautiful setting...... but for some if it's wet it's a long walk outside to the main restaurant. Staff alll very friendly and very accommodating.

Breakfast was disappointing as no clear advice for 2 of us being gluten free. The white GF bread yes u served was awful. Yes u might want to look at where you purchase this from and perhaps at least offer a brown alternative too?? I was impressed that the waiter understood cross contamination

The menu sadly does not change so when you are already on a restricted diet and whilst I appreciate that dishes can be modified to accommodate GF, it does limit the choice.

Overall a lovely weekend with strolls to the beautiful beach and use of the spa facilities, may be when filled with children there needs to be more than parental supervision as at one stage we got out of the pool due to continued 'dive bombing'

From our very first visit to enquire on availability to the end of the dinner last Saturday we could not have had more help in organising the evening. The staff were unfailing polite and the meal was excellent. We have received many positive comments from our guests who loved the design with many being fooled in to thinking that the hotel was 17th Century! The setting is great being in the country but only a few miles from several local towns.

Our wedding 50 years ago was a memorable occasion as the celebration of our 50 married life. We will book again.

Visited for a dinner, which was in every way superb. The beautiful private room, the service and the food itself were all absolutely top drawer.

We made the mistake however of booking a room which at £365 B & B for the cheapest room is eye wateringly expensive. The positives first - the various buildings in the grounds and the grounds themselves are superb, this is a beautiful place. The spa is an excellent facility with staff keen to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. One suggestion, the beds in the pool area extend very near the edge of the pool so it is not easy to walk by. Could they be angled a little more. The breakfast was first class with good service and excellent food. The staff were generally extremely friendly polite and efficient although I felt some reception staff could have been more understanding.

Now the not so positives - the problem is that if you are paying this kind of money you expect everything to be perfect which it wasn't. The Wifi in the room didn't work at all in spite of trying four different devices likewise in reception in the morning. I was told to try in the various lounges but I couldn't get wifi in any of them.
Although in a beautiful building, the room itself was no better than OK, not really tired but certainly heading in that direction.

For the amount of money you pay this hotel is VERY disappointing.

What stands out the most is the atrocious service. This hotel lacks a bar and the hotel apparently prides itself on the waiter service. What waiter service? On more than 3 occasions we sat in full view of waiting staff and was never approached for service. On one evening the receptionist even called someone to say we were waiting and we had to tell her 15 minutes later that no one had come!

We were also very disappointed to over hear staff members moaning about guests. This happened whilst my husband was sat in one of the lounge rooms listening to the receptionist talking to another staff member and also at breakfast when the staff were gossiping right next to the breakfast buffet!! For any establishment this is a no-no but you certainly don't expect it at a place you pay £300+ a night for.

The room was also disappointing. It was small, cobwebby and the bed spread was dirty. The coffee making facilities were poor and in a hotel of this "quality" there should be a nespresso-type coffee maker.

It's obviously old and therefore power sockets are scarce, but having a very cheap extension lead on full show was a letdown.

Breakfast was average and the dinner menu so uninspiring we didn't want to dine. On a positive, we ate at the Town House in
Arundel and that was AMAZING!!

All in all we drove away this morning thinking we had wasted £800, we certainly won't recommend this place to anyone.

I have written to Jenny P asking for a little bit more information as to when she stayed and in which room. Despite her experience, I can honestly say the whole team work really hard to ensure everyone has an enjoyable time with us, but occasionally things happen, we make mistakes or things simply go wrong and when they do we work that much harder to put them right. We also like Lee at the Town House, he used to be the Head Chef at The Spread Eagle, and is certainly a restaurant we would recommend.
