I visited the BRGR & Beer in Croydon on the suggestion of a colleague on a weekday lunchtime. BRGR & Beer is located in Mathews Yard near to the Surrey Street market in Croydon and I was unaware of its existence until I visited.
BRGR & Beer is located in the side of a larger building and the first impression was of a casual no frills back street burger bar. However once inside, the large interior is quite interesting with different areas set up in many diverse styles. BRGR & Beer does not have a corporate appearance by any means, but a more welcoming Bohemian feel about it.
When we arrived there were about a dozen customers and we placed our orders from the menu, there are seating and tables available both inside and out and being a sunny day we chose the latter. The outside area also has views of an imposing Victorian building which I was told was the original Croydon waterworks. The Mathews yard area was a welcome escape from the busy streets of Croydon though there were a fair number of people journeying through en route to somewhere else.
The Burgers when they came were very good, obviously freshly cooked and there was enough here with the chips and salad to satisfy a lunchtime time appetite.
Certainly worth a visit if you are in the area and are looking for an alternative lunchtime venue.
