Booked last minute for a visit to the area. The price was quite decent although of course you can't read too much into that as the prices for rooms always fluctuate wildly.
Location is off the beaten track so it could easily be really out of the way. I wouldn't want to have to drive all the way there if I wasn't wanting to be in the area specifically.
As a hotel - and putting aside the Covid restrictions;
Generally ok. It's not a 5-star, but it was comfortable enough and the staff were friendly. The reception area is a bit poky and not a very good welcome, but beyond that, it's generally ok. The room itself was fine (a family room), but a typical 'creaky English' - in need of some maintenance and a revamp. So many hotels are like that. In particular the shower had no water pressure and the toilet flush was temperamental.
There is free wifi, but no reception in the bedroom.
Nice view from the room though. It's a nice area - could be worth coming just to explore the area one day.
The bar was good and the evening bar food was pretty good quality.
The breakfast was also very good, although we missed a few things that you'd normally pick up from a buffet. When it's not there, you forget to ask specifically.
