Parts of the Hotel are shut off, the Covid rules are well adhered to. Sadly it gives this lovely old coaching inn a sad face. This Hotel is obviously the hub of the Town and is a beautiful old building. As it is Grade 11 listed, no lift. My companian and I were put on the top floor, three flights of stairs, the last flight steep and difficult with a door on the top step and nowhere to stand. We are both fit and we were given the offer to have our bags taken up but being sturdy ladies of an indeterminate age we refused. Big mistake! Be warned and ask if you are on the second floor. We took advantage of the Wilson Bar for dinner on the first night. Food and service were fine. It is obviously a popular place. Oswestry has many good eateries, some of quite fine quality and is well worth being adventurous. We also took advantage of the swimming pool which is small but very pleasant and there is a jacuzzi. Very welcome after a day of sight-seeing in he vicinity which has some quite stunning views and sites to visit. The room was comfortable and the bed was huge and comfortable. Bit dark but OK. All facilities worked and all was clean. All in all would recommend as a good central location with all the right facilities for an enjoyable stay. If you...More
