The reviews on here were very good and they were spot on,dont expect soft furnishings and Cordon Bleu this is a proper old fashioned pub serving good beer and proper food
The staff were extremely pleasant the service quick and the Fish Pie that both my wife and I had was to die for

After reading the other Trip Advisor reviews we called in for dinner last night (Saturday) as a stopping off point on a journey from Kidderminster to Conwy and were made very welcome at this proper English pub. We were pleased to see that there was space for drinking as well as for eating and because of this there was a nice communal atmosphere. We were offered space in the bar or the restaurant for eating and we chose the bar because of its convivial atmosphere. There was a variety beer on offer and as I wasn't required for driving I tried a great hoppy Welsh beer. I had fish pie (full of fish) and the No 1 Husband had faggots and chips which he really enjoyed. We left regretfully to continue on our way home, but vowing to return next time we're passing through.

Hi Vialetta!
Thank you so much for giving us a visit on your journey and we're so glad you like our 17th century pub.
From reading your review I believe you may have tried the Conwy Clogwyn Gold! It has been one of our guests this week and it will certainly be returning!

We hope you had a lovely time in Conwy and got to try some more welsh beer!
All the best,
Joshua & The G&D Team!

Classic pub, nice people behind the bar and at the other tables. Menu was typical pub food, no specials (at least the day we were there). Nice place to stop for a pint.

Hey MrTeather!
Thank you for stopping by. We're a 17th century pub so we like to keep it as classic as we can, just less of the medievel!
We are a 'pub' and don't try to be anything we're not so 'pub food' is what we like to offer. Unfortunately there wouldn't have been any specials on, we are currently going through the process of changing our menu's so we're looking forward to getting up some summer specials soon.

Thanks again for stopping by. If there is anything you could recommend to us upon improving your visit then please don't hesitate to get in contact!

All the best,
Joshua / Bar Manager
& The George & Dragon team!

Visited this pub on our first evening staying in Much Wenlock, after a day of pitching a very reluctant 7 man tent! Un fortunately, we were told that the kitchen was closed on Tuesday's and so we left immediately as we needed to eat.
We did return on the Thursday afternoon, for a drink following a walk around Walton Hill, with our eight year old child and a large male Boxer dog.
The guy serving behind the bar was friendly and gave the dog a bowl of water and dog biscuits and a good fuss! He engaged us in conversation and offered advice on further walks and points of interest nearby.
The beer was good and their was a good selection on offer. I went with Abbot & even found it in CAMRA "Good Beer Guide 2017" (page 400).
The pub whilst we were there seemed frequented more by locals, who for the most part were friendly.
We would have stayed longer unfortunately the language, in the fairly small bar area where we were, was somewhat, colourful for small ears!
If you are looking for a well kept beer in a traditional pub great, but I would not recommend it as a family pub.

Hi Wayne W,

Thank you for visiting us on both Tuesday & Thursday.
I'm sorry that we could not accompany you with food on Tuesday evening. We normally offer food between the hours of 6 and 9PM, but we had a slight issue with staff, but really appreciate you coming by again on the Thursday!
We are 100% dog-friendly and welcome dogs as much as we would any guest! Your boxer dog was too cute not to fuss. (We hope he/she enjoyed the biscuits!)

I am really sorry for the language that was present on your outing with us. If you do visit us again in the future, we can make sure that you're made comfortable in our restaurant area that is just tucked away as you walk past the bar and toilets.

I and The G&D Team hope you had a lovely time visiting Much Wenlock, and that you may perhaps pay us a visit again with your furry friend in the future.

All the best,
Joshua W
