The trail follows the line of a disused railway and has been surfaced with tarmac for much of its length near Thame. Nearer Princes Risborough the surface is less formal but still easily passable. The walk is level with small inclines over short distances so an easy walk or cycle. The route is mainly through open country except near Thame where it winds around the Southern outskirts of the town making it easy to reach from the Town Centre (for coffee or lunch or just a browse of shops or historic buildings). There are few spots for refreshment along the 14 Mike walk from Thame to Princes Risborough but the Three Horseshoes at Towersey is well worth a visit albeit fairly close to Thame. Look out for the works of art along the trail celebrating the lines heritage.
