Review of The Phoenix Trail

The Phoenix Trail
Ranked #1 of 15 things to do in Thame

Reviewed 9 August 2017

The trail follows the line of a disused railway and has been surfaced with tarmac for much of its length near Thame. Nearer Princes Risborough the surface is less formal but still easily passable. The walk is level with small inclines over short distances so an easy walk or cycle. The route is mainly through open country except near Thame where it winds around the Southern outskirts of the town making it easy to reach from the Town Centre (for coffee or lunch or just a browse of shops or historic buildings). There are few spots for refreshment along the 14 Mike walk from Thame to Princes Risborough but the Three Horseshoes at Towersey is well worth a visit albeit fairly close to Thame. Look out for the works of art along the trail celebrating the lines heritage.

This is a beautiful trail, lovely views and perfect with small children - highly recommend.
It is very flat with grassy verges to stop for drinks and picnics and everyone else Doug the trail was friendly

Lovely walks along here with my new puppy & girlfriend. Always a nice view & such a calm walk. One of my favourites of Thame.

Approximately 6 miles depending on where you start. Easy access from villages along route.

Car parking - free - depending on where you park can be limited in some places. We parked along track off Ickneild Way, Princes Risborough. Single row parking for about 15 cars. If you have a tow bike trailer be wary as cars do squeeze in where they can. We sent on a Sunday.

Route from Princes Risborough to Thame.
If coming from Thame, park in Sport Centre Car Park at end of trail or smaller town car parks - some free on Sundays to park. Thame is a great market style town with plenty of food outlets/coffee stops. Some retailers not open on a Sunday.

Trail Art a little out dated and in some places broken so this is just really a safe walking/cycling/horse trail from A to B. Plenty of people using the trail and having a healthy fun afternoon.

An easy ride for adults and young children and no traffic. It's not that it's anything special but it is quiet and relaxing. Parking close to the trail can be a problem.
