We were invited to the birthday lunch of the parent of a very good friend. He and his family had received acceptances for 75 family and friends. The venue was tucked away in an old area of Abingdon with gardens backing onto the river and water meadows on the other side of the river. A lovely setting which we only viewed from the house as wind and lashing rain prevailed all afternoon.
Staff were well organised, courtious and attentive. Tables were very well laid & the quality of the food was very, very good. I had chosen prawn & crab for starter, which was delicious. Then trout for main course, which as a favourite fish was lovely and exceptionally well cooked. (Tricky when serving for 75) Well done to the kitchen for getting this cooked so right and getting to the guests beatifully cooked! I had selected the cheese board for desert, which was substantial. Others has really lovely looking sweet deserts, which I understand went down very well. Shame there were no English artisan cheeses in my selection, which would have topped everything so well.
Overall the whole experience was really very good in a lovely venue. Use this place with confidence. It was and unforgettableday to celebrate this lovely gentleman's 90th birthday made really special by the venue and good food.

When our usual hotel was fully booked we stayed here. We had single rooms that were quite tiny and the ensuite was very small. General condition of the hotel was OK and the view from the restaurant was very nice in the morning. The breakfast was "self serve" and things were generally hot and fresh. I just prefer a cooked to order "full english" when I am in England.

If you want a Christmas Party that combines good food with a dance then this is the place to go. Very efficient service, reasonably priced and all in a magnificent river-side venue. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Stayed here for a week whilst working in the area. I was allocated a room in the stable block which is a bit cold and relatively small single room. Place is a bit dated but with a modern touch, could be a class place. Food is brilliant, as is Humphrey, the manager, brilliant fella who sorted out my room heating quick as a flash after bringing it to his attention

The Cosener’s House is a lovely hotel with restaurant and conference rooms in the beautiful setting of the Abbey Park in Abingdon. The house has a gorgeous garden right on the Thames and it is walking distance from the town center. The location is perfect for a relaxing stay. The rooms are nice and comfortable. Excellent breakfast, free wifi and private parking. I was in a business trip and it was really a pleasant stay. Last but not least: very good prices!
