This place literally stinks!
The first thing which struck me when i entered the bar, to check in, was the sour smell of stale grease Staff are friendly and helpful but very lacking when it comes to housekeeping. I had to change my room as the first one allocated was dirty with cups stuck to a shelf where the coffee and tea are kept, a sticky patch in front of the toilet and when I turned on the TV the screen was smashed. They knew about the TV and allocated the room anyway!
The room I eventually stayed in had a clean bathroom but the bedroom coving was covered in dust and cobwebs and it was clear that neither room had been vacuumed recently. When I returned from work my toilet hadn't been cleaned, my dirty cups had been put back with the kettle and the bed hadn't been turned down.
To be fair the food was ok and good value if nothing special however when I got to the bottom of my pint it was full of bits suggesting the pipes need cleaning; this is a Marstons Inn and their beer deserves better.
This a lovely old building which could be a really nice place to stay sadly it's one of the dirtiest places I've stayed and relatively over priced.More
