Clean, well maintained budget hotel with powerful showers, good Internet access, decent TV options, passable effort at breakfast and comfortable beds. We stayed here whilst coating relatives in a nearby village. Stayed for 4 nights and couldn't really fault it. Was very cold outside and staff gave us extra blankets and change our pillows at first request. Room was not cold, wife likes to be extra cosy!!

Stayed in the hotel whilst at a swimming competition in the area and was impressed from the start, as when discussing the reason for our visit with reception we were advised that they would have breakfast ready early both days, due to several similar competitors staying in the hotel. The location is good, close to the A14/A43 and this being a new hotel, the interior is clean and rooms well equipped. Price, especially with breakfast thrown in and free WI-FI was very competitive and I will stay again.

We stayed here over the weekend whilst my daughter swam at Corby International Pool. It was "so easy". We did not arrive until after 8.30 and whilst the car park was busy due to the adjacent Harvester, we managed to park securely. We were greeted pleasantly and check in was very efficient.

We had a twin room, there was plenty of space, it was very clean, especially the bathroom. The towels were fluffy and soft and so was the loo roll ( a strange comment you may think but I have stayed in many hotels and often both of these are hard and unpleasant to utilise! There was everything you needed including free wi-fi (that sorted the daughter she was more than happy. There could have been a few more beverage sachets but this was a minor point.

The room we had faced the open land at the back and was really quite. The temperature was easy to control.

We stayed two nights but only managed to get to breakfast on one morning. This was adequate for us and actually was convenient in terms of being able to eat early on one of the competition mornings.

We ate on the Saturday evening at the Harvester. it was OK we were told we would need to wait 35 mins for a table more like an hour and then got our order wrong, although food was good. Would recommend if you use this to book, especially on Saturday.

Room Tip: We were in 225 which was at the back - no noise from those using the car park for the Harvester!

The hotel is on the outskirts, so not much around except a Harvester restaurant.

It is fairly new, so everything still has a shine to it. I have stayed in a number of HI Express hotels and this is not one of the best. The downstairs bar and seating area wasn't great as the breakfast bar is bang smack in the middle.

The rooms were fine and as with all Holiday Inn's you get a choice of a hard or soft pillow personally I don't care. The room had tea/coffee facilities and a few TV channels. One nice touch was that Wifi is free, which is always a bonus.

Breakfast consists of the usual choice cereals, toast, croissants, yoghurts and a few cooked items like sausages and beans. Not the best you will ever have but probably no worse than you would have at home.

Ideal for a night or two stay, wouldn't recommend staying here for longer unless price was the factor.

For the guests who were staying in 214, please keep the noise down in future.

Room Tip: All the rooms are exactly the same unless you require disabled access.

I like Holiday Inn Express. My experience is that the rooms are always clean, the bathrooms are spotless and the free wi-fi is always a good thing.

From the outside, this is a lovely hotel and the inside matches it.

BUT.....

Sometimes its just the small things. I had a 2 night stay either side of a conference and had issues both nights.

Night 1 - No irons or ironing boards available for the rooms so you need to use the ironing room on the 1st floor. I was ironing a brand new shirt and when using the steam button, it left a horrible dirty mark on the collar of my shirt. Shirt ruined. Complained to the front desk and the best they could do was say they would check the iron out. No offer of any help.

Night 2 - Checked in and gets to room. Door opens and I put the card into the electricity holder. No lights. Phoned reception and she apologised and asked me to come down to reset the card. I explained the card was clearly working as i got in the door but had to go back down. She put it back in the machine and said it would be fine. I knew it wouldnt. And i was right. Still no lights so phoned down again and the girl came up and it was a fuse.

I appreciate some people will never have these issues which if not, then the hotel would be 4 star but the small annoying things have made me rate it less.

PS - The walls are a little thin as i could hear everything a couple were doing 2 rooms down from me both from my room and when i walked past their door on the way downstairs. So remember this if you are away for a wee romantic break. ;-)
