We visited the Flagstaff yesterday and found the staff we spoke with very helpful.
We had a table booked for ten people unfortunately we were delayed getting to the restaurant and we phoned ahead to alter the times they were very helpful and accommodating.

All the staff we spoke with were helpful and polite, especially Elly who looked after us, she is a credit to Brewers Fayre.

The food itself was acceptable. Sadly they had run out of Rib Eye steak, which was a shame but then it was quite late in the day so a Sirloin took its place.

Otherwise an all round pleasant experience.

It looks like the refurbishment works mentioned else where are complete.

Had dinner here New York Beefburger. Bacon soggy, an inferior beefburger. Fish and chips - chips were ‘white’ - had them replaced with slightly browner ones, but still an awful meal. Would not recommend. Better to pay a bit extra and go into Ashby de la douche to a decent restaurant.

On our way home to Leeds from a show at the NEC and decided to stop off here as it was rush hour, and wait for the traffic to die down - we really wish we hadn't bothered!!

We walked in at around 5.15pm and the place was virtually empty. We were greeted by a very sullen and rude member of staff who asked if we had booked, we said no and was it a problem? The lady did not answer us just started staring at a sheet of paper in front of her for about 2 minutes, tutting and sighing, making us feel very uncomfortable. We did consider at this stage just walking out but as we don't know the area, and the traffic was building up, we decided to stay.

We were shown to a table in a completely empty area of the pub and told our waitress would be along shortly to take our order. We have to say the waitress was very nice, about the only good thing we can say about this place!

I ordered a 3 cheese quiche which came with "buttery potatoes" and a salad. I don't have a massive appetite but the size of this quiche was absolutely pathetic (child portion at best!) and the "buttery potatoes" turned out to be 5 new potatoes, cut in half, with 2 pre-packed butter portions on the side of the plate!!!! "Buttery potatoes" - really????

When the waitress came to clear our plates she asked if everything was alright so I explained how disappointed I was with the food. I was advised that the the portion size of the quiche is "set by head office" and there was nothing she could do about it. Regarding the "buttery potatoes" she advised that the butter should not have been brought out still pre-packed but that the kitchen should have added it to the potatoes??? I think she missed the point entirely - surely "buttery potatoes" are potatoes which are COOKED with butter? Not plain boiled potatoes with a knob of butter "thrown on top" by kitchen staff!!!

When we got home we contacted their customer complaints team who basically just completely fobbed us off by repeating that the quiche is in the "lighter" option section of their menu. Maybe I am wrong but I assumed a "lighter" option meant reduced fat NOT reduced sizes? This dish is charged at exactly the same price as the majority of the main courses dishes. Looks like a win win for Brewers Fayre - get just as much money out of customers who are health conscious but reduce the portion sizes so that they can make even more profit!!!

All in all this meal was not worth the money we paid, the staff at the restaurant were not really interested and customer complaints at their Head Office couldn't give a dam.

It's a long time since we visited a Brewers Fayre and, with this level of service / attitude, I think it will be a long time before we go again (if ever).

If you want quality food, at a reasonable price, we suggest you don't go to a Brewers Fayre restaurant.

Food choice was great, and when served was hot, tasty and well presented, albeit a little slow.

Service at the bar was also slow; the hotel was fully booked and yet there was only one member of staff on the bar. Once seated it was easier to get drinks through the waitresses who were very friendly and helpful.

Overall though very good

I stayed here for 5 nights and every night all the staff were very attentive and couldn't be more helpful. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and our waitress Caitlin always greeted us with a smile.
