Thank you for your review. As you say, the views from the keep are amazing and it is just a short walk up from Clitheroe town centre. There are various legends surrounding the massive hole in the wall of the castle keep - the museum provides information on the various theories and legends.

This is a great castle ruin. With a great museum. The views from the top of the museum. The climb to it is a bit steep but worth it.

Thank you for your review. The castle sits on a small hill in the centre of Clitheroe and provides amazing views over the whole of the Ribble Valley and across to Pendle Hill. The grounds, gardens and keep are free of charge.

Overlooking the charming town of clitheroe, the castle is a bit of a steep walk. There is a choice of steps or slope to get to it, once there , it is free access to get to the tower, which gives a chance to see a panoramic view of the surrounding area. You can choose to visit the museum and other facilities, which has a small charge. The grounds are beautifully kept and incorporate an outside theatre . A great way to spend a day.

I'll be honest here, right from the off.I can actually see this place from my house but I don't think I've been in the castle museum for 20 years...until recently.we go to the park all the time as the kids love it.if you combine the park and activities the castle has running all through the year, you could easily spend a good few hours in the grounds.it's a beautiful in the winter as it is in the summer!
The museum, well I was pleasantly surprised.there were sections on history, wildlife, geography and yes,the witches-but it did cover the folklore of the area, not just the witches.there is a hunt for the kids to do,so they have to find things and in the process the actually look at stuff! There's lots of interactive exhibits which we had a great time with....turns out I'm pretty hopeless on a xylophone! My daughter and son did the brass rubbings and of course the daughter did a brass rubbing of how to summon Beelzebub...son went for a knight.. there is also a section where the kids can dress up in traditional clothing, which they loved! The staff are knowledgeable and helpful, the museum is only small so you are never far away from someone to ask but it is packed with interesting stuff so that's lucky! The gift shop is only small but there's enough for you to pick up a momento.all in all,a great afternoon in the museum.I'd recommend the grounds,it's a brill place to let the kids run riot

Thank you for your wonderful review. We're glad that you enjoyed your visit to the museum. The competition hunt changes every month so you may want to come again in October when we will have a Halloween witch theme - children in fancy dress costume most welcome.
