Four of us went for a birthday celebration on Good Friday. Food was excellent as was the service by Mike and we look forward to visiting again.

This is a very nice place - it is beautifully decorated and has the wow factor. As another reviewer stated, there is a sense of occasion coming here.
The food is pretty good but the steaks could be of a better quality for the price. My husband had a tender steak but I could barely slice mine as it was so tough and its not cheap! All the sides - sauces, fries etc were delicious. I would say that the cooking is fine, the products not so fine.
Service is generally pretty good and quite relaxed..
This place has potential to be the best restaurant in the area, but the quality of meat needs improvement!

Three of us visited for lunch after enjoying our one previous visit several weeks ago. Having read some very bad TripAdvisor reviews our expectations were lowered but how wrong could we be.

We all had "nibbles" to start with expecting a small portion but I don't count eight breaded calamari rings as a small portion! The charcuterie skewer and skate wings were also good portions and of the highest standard.

For the mains two of us had steak pie and one the mixed fish skewer. We had thought that the description of the dish meant that the pie was made with fillet steak but no - you get a pie and a separate fillet steak. OK not a massive pie/steak but what do you expect for £13.50. Fabulous quality. The fish skewer at £17 had lead me to believe that the portion wouldn't be huge but I was wrong. The fillet of salmon alone would have been adequate for a main course but there was also pieces of cod, sea bass, four king prawns and two large slices of calamari, all perfectly grilled and seasoned.

The service throughout was top class restaurant standard without being pompous and the setting is a delight. Slight grump about the mark up on some of the wine - charging £35 for a wine Byrne's sell for £9 is a rip off. Other than that, a superb meal at a price totally commensurate with the quality in what is a beautiful venue. Having read some of the previous reviews either they caught them on a very bad day or the authors don't eat out much.

Highly recommended, don't believe some ridiculous comments from others and visit to make your own mind up.

Opulent surroundings, pleasant atmosphere, mediocre service, all meat choices totally inedible. Even a JCB wouldn’t have been able to chew the ‘rare’ steaks. Will definitely not be eating there again.

We were greeted warmly as soon as we stepped in the door by the general manager, Thomas. He answered our questions about the beautiful decoration and then showed us to a table for two. Very comfortable chairs. Soon a young Italian waiter arrived and within a very short time we were tasting some absolutely delicious warm bread in four flavours.
Both our main dishes were just right in quantity. Like many older customers, we don't want huge helpings - just well-cooked and attractively presented food. Both the crab risotto and the Lancashire hotpot were delicious, hot and well served. Service was perfectly paced and impeccable. that in itself a rarity in Britain. All in all, with some good wine, a thoroughly enjoyable meal.
