A little uneasy when we first seen the Lodge but all was not as it seemed.
We went to our room,it was spottless ,the bed was very nice ,it was quiet at night.
The breakfeast was good ,,The couple who run the place are first class.

This is home away from home. Family owned, budget priced, comfortable beds.
We returned to find that they are still improving it. Now it has new windows and the style is still retro. Not the Ritz so don't expect that here. Just a nice, friendly, comfy, non chain place to stay.

Room Tip: Rooms at the end may have trouble getting wifi if a lot of people are using it, as on weekends.

Arrived very late (after 10pm) to an unmanned reception so had to call a mobile number to check in. Very friendly staff. Room was clean & comfortable and the heating was very good.
Good value for money

Booked for an overnight stopover, very competitively priced and a perfect location for our purpose.
Check in was an informal affair and the establishment appears to be run as a family business with direct interaction with the owners. They were engaging and interactive, and pretty helpful with local information, though for us it was less important as we are regulars in the area.
The room was fine, but possibly a little dated, nothing wrong at all, clean, fresh towels, everything worked and did what it should do, but just like a trip back a few years. I noticed the double glazing was manufactured this year, so perhaps there is a rolling programme of refurbishment. Breakfast was a continental sort of affair, again adequate and pleasant served by the management.
Our one grumble, if that is what I should call it, was the heating, it was a very warm room. With a single night stopover after a long drive and a meal, we just tend to hit the snooze button, I did turn the radiator down, in hind sight not enough. Exploring in the morning I found I could have left the window ajar for some air.
I'll know better for next time !

No restaurant or bar.
Only continental breakfast, in the reception area, which was limited, and was not displayed well, also not available until 8.30am on weekends. So I went without.
8.10am no one on reception, so I had to ring a mobile number and wait for someone to turn up so I could pay my bill and check out.
Definitely will not stay here again.

The bed was comfy
