The place is unclean and old and the men's has typical 1960's style. The still open burger king reastraunt had nice food but was expensive and the WIFI was terrible. The at park was big. I would probably rather stop of at ether Killington lake services or Westmorland about 20 minutes down the road. Would stop again if had to.

How staff can clear tables but leave them dirty amazes me. Fast food outlets, feeds on the fact that it is overly busy so you can offer poor choice. Probably overcharging franchisees. It is bleak and could do with being knocked down.
Hard to be positive, expensive drivel, 'gross'.
Avoid unless you love the greasy spoon environment and poor quality food.

These motorway services offer two very different sides of the same coin!

One side offers the exciting structure that is the 22 metre-high Pennine Tower. When this brutalist building with it's air traffic control aesthetic was opened in 1965 it was a must stop location and the place to be. The hexagonal restaurant had waiter service and unparalleled views of the motorway and wider landscape. The tower, not currently in use, was given grade II-listed status in 2012 by Historic England.

Unfortunately the other side of the coin is the fact that the services are today a very tired space filled with an uninspiring collection of the shops and burger bars!

This place needs an makeover and large injection of love to take it back to the glory days of the late 60s and 70s!

Don’t forget the positives amongst the blandness! So what are the positives - (1) the architecture of the brutalist hexagonal tower, and (2) the excellent value of the on-site Travelodge!

The grimmest services on the UK motorway network.

Moto are not the best of the providers but with Lancaster M6 they really have plumbed the depths of grimness.

You can 'hang on'. Preferably to Westmorland at Tebay.

All there is at 1am is a toilet. That's awkwardly upstairs. There is an escalator and a lift, but... you what?! Having to walk past a load of shops that are closed and arcade machines that are always empty. And it stinks. I'm anosmic, but even I felt there was a sense of a pungent odour. Didn't see any staff, and I did notice that the one cafe area that was open had tables with dirty crockery on. It wasn't the most appealing of sights.
