Went there for lunch having seen the reviews but was astonished by the whole experience.
From the start staff are polite interested and highly professional. Not a huge Sunday lunch menu but frankly I would happily have had almost every dish.
I had the smoked mackerel starter and it was quite exceptional with astonishingly delicious elements.
Main course was the most amazing black treacle beef with an added pomme anna instead of roasts (by request) dessert was a coffee panna cotta with espresso ice cream and milk foam.
Only complaint was the beef came with gravy despite asking for none, but that's so minor an issue for what was a quite exceptional lunch beautifully cooked and presented. Superb breakfast with a great industrial sized Yorkshire.
I cannot offer any negative observation regarding the exceptional food.
Toilets clean although more smart car size!
Thanks for a great experience to the general manager and ALL her staff.

Great food, that can not be faulted.

We took our newly wed friends to Chapel down for their wedding present.

The Swan was brilliant after the vine tasting.

The food was better than expected.

Service - good, but not amazing.

Resturant - smart causal, you can be dressy as well as getting away dining in smart walking wear.

We had three bottles of wine between 4 of us and not once was our wine topped up by the waiting staff - the Resturant was not full or busy. Our guest asked what the lamb came with and they said “what ever it says in the menu” and walked way.... we get that, just wanted to know how they came... IE chargrilled, boiled, steamed etc....

Dessert was brilliant!!
I ordered the artichoke and rapeseed cake - beautiful - we wanted more!
Our friends ordered the lemon pie - beautiful also!!

Wonderful lunch with friends after winetasting. Menu is reasonably priced, allergies well catered for. Halibut starter was very small, but tasted divine. Lamb main was an absolute delight. Friends reported the veal starter and cod main were also wonderful. One of each side catered well to the 7 of us. Most of us plumped for chocolate-based puds. Food was wonderful, but the service was very slow (kitchen rather than the waiting staff we think). An hour between the starter and main is just too long. Puddings were very rushed as a result. Staff uniformly very helpful.

We went for our anniversary, as I particularly like chapel down white wine and English fizz!
I love the classy but alternative decor, feels like quite a trendy wine bar, shame there's not more like this in the Weald on offer.
The food is small but beautiful and full of flavour, you do need three courses! And I would recommend ordering additional potatoes on the side, but it's actually pretty good value for money in my opinion...it's just the booze that can make it expensive.
