Description: Following the launch of our restaurant, The Salutation offers a wealth of dining options, from dawn ‘til dusk. With the North Wing opened up to accommodate our state of the art kitchen, our dining rooms fully refurbished, and our tearoom given a fresh start as Sister Sally, there is now something for everyone at every time of day, all stemming from the same kitchen team and striving for the same sky-high standards. Whether it is residents’ breakfast, in-between bites at Sister Sally, lunch or Afternoon Tea on the terrace, a la carte dining or our Tasting Room menu, we are cult-like in our obsession with local sourcing and in-house production.

I visited the Salutation for the first time under the new management yesterday for Sunday lunch and what a joy it was. The food was innovative, fresh and, most of all, absolutely delicious. We were treated to 3 amuse bouche and then 3 wonderful dishes. The service was not just efficient but warm and friendly. The staff really were delightful. The setting is beautiful too. I really cannot recommend it highly enough. Thank you everyone at the Salutation.

I had wanted to visit this establishment for many years and finally got there!
Its recently changed hands I believe, we had the festive menu for lunch and we were not disappointed. Our starters were superb as was our main course, absolutely delicious.
The a'muse-bouches, well magnificent.
The finale of The salutation Christmas Pudding was an absolute dream of taste sensations!!
Thank you all for such a wonderful special lunch.

This is the first time we have visited the restaurant at The Salutation and we had a thoroughly enjoyable meal with excellent food and good service.
At lunch times, the chef decides which ‘tapas’ style dishes he will prepare. It was quite frustrating not to be free to choose the dishes one prefers from a pretty extensive menu but in these straightened times, waste not, want not.
As there were only a few diners (8 in total) we were eating at the Chef’s Table with a good view through the glass wall into the kitchen. It was a shame not to see Shane again especially as we had specifically asked when booking if he was working on the day we visited. No Shane! (whose food we know from Thackery’s in Tunbridge Wells).
One further potentially fatal error was that my wife’s allergy to chillies was recorded as ‘No fish’. Bizarre.
Service was excellent with our five course lunch taking just over 2 hours. As we live half the year in Burgundy, this pace was exactly what we are used to. Well done.
The food. The chef’s selection of small plates was very tasty. Nothing too complicated and all full of flavour. We look forward to returning and eating the à la carte or tasting menu which will be a truer test than the small plates eaten today.
In summary, an enjoyable lunch.
Further review in due course after a proper test of Shane’s cooking and presentation.

Superb value for money. At less than £30 per head for three courses - on top of which there were four other “courses” (small appetisers) - you won’t beat this, especially as the food was great. Don’t come along expecting huge piles of Sunday roast (my daughter did however have a lovely plate of roast beef and vegetables), this is more about quality than quantity. That’s not to say you aren’t well fed, just that the quality is higher than your average Sunday lunch. Do yourself a favour and get along before the prices rise to what they should really be charging!

This is our second visit to this newly refurbished restaurant. The food comes in lots of different small interesting platters. You can watch the kitchen in action through glass doors. The food was interesting and delicious again.
However I would recommend this restaurant to a larger group;for 2 people you are placed on a sharing table with a small pot of ferns dividing. You aren't opposite each other but at an angle and can hear all of your neighbour's conversation.Rather than a relaxed ambience I think their main motivation is that you watch the kitchen, there is even a mirror if you are facing the other way.I noticed 3 other couples feeling just as uncomfortable.
The food is a work of art though...
