Some of the restaurant is table service this was fine, friendly but did have to request one or two things. We had Mussels but not water bowls were brought, then had to request spoons and extra napkins. All usually brought with that kind of meal. Took a while to get the bill and then gave up trying to pay at the table and went to pay at the bar. Only one girl serving, maybe because its October and not so busy. One of our choices was not available which again is odd. Just needs a bit more customer care.

staying one weekend night with dog. Big spacious corner room on 1F. Staff really friendly. For breakfast, cannot go in restaurant with dog, so in bar or outside with dog (that's totally fine). Service a little slow - but full English was just great!! Thanks

Room Tip: corner rooms have light urban views

3 night golf stay, so all we needed was the basics as we were out every day and evening. The hotel was friendly and comfortable in a rather dated way, but it had everything we needed. Great location by the marina and my room had that as a view, nice. I know the trend is towards showers but I was quite happy with a bath with a mixer tap so I could have a nice soak. No issues with the staff for us, polite, helpful and friendly. The road outside is surprisingly noisy at all hours if you have the window open and certainly when we were there it was needed as the rooms were very warm (without heating on) but my room had a fan if required. Sandwich is a surprising little town and this hotel is at the heart of it for exploring. We ate bar food on one evening, fish and chips and it was terrific and plentiful. Cooked breakfasts were fine, I've had better and worse, they were fine.

Really lovely hotel in a great location. Old hotel on the waterfront and very close to the town centre which made it easy to walk everywhere. We had a lovely room, quite large with high ceilings with a big bay window that looked out to the river. The room was very comfortable and had a large bathroom with a great roll-top bath. We had breakfast each morning and found it to be a good quality and the service very good. We also ate in the bar on one night and loved it; great food and service. Car parking is very limited (we were very lucky to get a park at the hotel each day) however public parking is very close by. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Sandwich.

We have visited five times over the summer. Each time the same breakfast has been a shambles. Knife and fork provided for yogurt; cold coffee; no toast; no butter; late toast brought to us half way through; no cutlery so the food goes cold whilst we wait; waitress ‘forgets’ to bring us our coffee etc etc. Last week the table next to us asked 3 times for their coffee, twice for cutlery and their toast was also late. Beautiful surroundings, clean and comfortable restaurant with lovely decor - what should be an amazing, relaxing experience has, each time, left us irritated and disappointed. So after five attempts, we won’t be back.
