Now the Road is open we were able to visit another favorite Pub of ours. Great welcome in warm comfy bar. A pint of Bombardier while awaiting our menus, etc. I had the Steak & Kidney Pie others had the Fish and Chips, Ham Eggs & Chips and more great comfort food. The service is very good with charming, cheerful and helpful Front of House staff. Very good and varied menu including Vegetarian. On Wednesday they offer an olde fartes Roast at £5. Heaven. Also a lunch menu with 1,2,or 3 courses I only manged 2. So good place to be for a long old chat about rubbish politics, putting the world right, and cars of course. Great Pub highly recommended lots of events nights etc too. The locals are very lucky.

We had a lovely Mothers Day Sunday Lunch for 4. Restaurant was nicely decorated with balloons and pink and white pom poms, friendly staff.

Can’t fault this place. Service was very good, waitresses very polite and attentive. The meal I had was bloody lovely. My niece wished she had more bread to go with her Pate, more please . Mum’s meal just as lovely, never known someone to polish off a starter as quick as she did. Would definitely come back and would recommend the Rising Sun to anyone. Thanks

We ate here last Sunday good took over 45 minutes to come out. Portion sizes very small 3 tiny roast potatoes and the meat was chewy.

We have eaten here plenty of times before , such a shame it’s going downhill.

This pub used to be number 1 in the town.

Tables in the restaurant were not cleared when people left dirty dessert plates and glasses left

I went with my family for Sunday lunch, have been here several times with no complaints.
How ever this time was a bit of a let down, there were four of us,we got a table straight away,it was not very busy, the young lady who took our order was excellent, how ever after we placed our order,we waited and waited for our lunch, after about 45 minutes we asked where our food was,it seems there was a mix up we then got our meals.
We all found the portions rather small and not a lot of flavour in our meal, the Yorkshire Pudding I had was very small, three very small roast potatoes,no stuffing, not very good at all.
This is not what we are being used to at this pub.
We went on purpose. As we are having a family lunch about 12 of us very soon,so we thought we would try this pub as we have not used it for some time, sorry we will no be having our get together here now.
