We stayed at the boxmoor lodge hotel with our three year old after a busy day at whipsnade zoo. We arrived late on a Friday evening and were greeted by very friendly reception staff. The hotel had lots of character and consisted of rooms with their own front doors to the grounds. The room was quirky and had ample room for the three of us. There was a railway line nearby and constant trains passing through but the noise wasn’t bad. We all still managed a comfortable night sleep and had a superb breakfast in the morning. I definitely think we would return should we be visiting the zoo in the future, however there are just a small negative findings that I feel I should share. The room was very hot with no fans and minimal windows. We removed the duvets from their covers for a more comfortable night and found the duvets had terrible stains (see pics). There was someone else’s medicine pill on the floor which with a young child could have been dangerous. Aside from this I would still recommend a stay here.

Now this is a bolt out of the blue. A quaint hotel with a cottage feel to it. Location is great but the noise from peak time road traffic can be a little off putting. Nice welcome from reception.

The rooms are very clean, welcoming and cozy and pretty well spec’d but the mp3 player is a tad dated and lacking the new connector.

Great little bar that is well stocked of liquor and there are two lagers on draught.
The restaurant has a great choice of foods but I didn’t try this time as had dinner elsewhere.

The English breakfast is superb what more can you want.

Well the weekend was so relaxing and that is all down to Boxmoor Lodge and it's staff.
From the moment we arrived we were treated amazing everything you could wish for is at this relaxing beautiful hotel.
The rooms are spacious and very clean and very comfortable.
The restaurant is so good it should be recognised for its excellent quality. The new Head Chef Simon is a very guest orientated man to whom nothing is too much trouble.
If anybody is looking forward to a relaxing stay or you need somewhere for a celebration then this is the place.
Please try this hotel and it's restaurant which is also open everyday and to the public.
3 cheers for Boxmoor Lodge.

We stayed on Sunday evening and I’ve got to say how helpful and professional the staff were.
We stayed on the ground floor and the room was very spacious, very clean and the bed was super comfy.
The breakfast was delicious with a large choice.
I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again when in the area.

The hotel represents good value, and is walking distance from Hemel Hempstead station. Although near a main road, it is surprisingly quite. Our room was comfortable (first floor, in the courtyard area, clustered round an attractive lawn). The double room price included an excellent breakfast.
