We absolutely loved this place, there was a mix up about the extra night I booked by phone a few weeks before trip. Hotel was full but landlady found us a room in pub up the street and carried our bags across for us. We came back a cross for breakfast which was lovely, just don't ask for the porridge! Very old and lovingly restored hotel, with friendly owners and staff. We also had an evening meal which was excellent the chef makes her own bread which is lovely. Spent a very interesting evening in the bar. Would go again.

Firstly I think the bad reviews should be viewed, however I must point out the mature owners work really really hard and I don't think they mean to alienate. If you can enjoy the Faulty Towers show, and can count to 10 as you get used to the oddities, this place is Brilliant! Fantastic building, car park, clean rooms, great food and bar, well priced, occasionally freindly welcome. The discerning locals, many involved with the folk and theatre scene, which the owners tirelessly contribute to, enjoy a pint and an insult from a "man in tights" dressed barman. If you don't take things seriously like me you can learn to love this place.

The food is lovely, the building is spectacular and it is very clean. Although Sylvia is vile she speaks to you like a child, very eccentric and has the most horrible personality you can possibly imagine.

A place that is to be treasured by sensible travelers. Food Accommodation all good taken with the well meaning hosts. They mean so well but folk judge them wrong.. We will return again soon.

This is our third stay and not hesitate to return.
