The meat was OK, but the vegetables were raw, and had to saw through the roast parsnip. We naturally complained, and were told by the well-intentioned but ignorant waitress that she had spoken to chef, and these were cooked "Alley-Denty". I ruefully reflected that it was probably our teeth that were likely to be "denty". However, no reduction on the cost of the main course, (£14.95 per adult, £4.95 per child), so when presented with a £170.00 bill, we naturally declined the option for a Gratuity.

One mitigating fact; the Sticky Toffee Pudding & Custard for dessert was sublime. However, the Old Beams will need to learn how to STEAM vegetables to an acceptable level of softness in future, otherwise we will revert to our usual format as Mature Diners of Starter & Dessert!

All of which adds up to a disappointing visit to what is a very nice pub, with a lovely cosy ambience. Shame about the staff and the veg.....

Reasonable food, good drink and good staff. Very warm and friendly atmosphere. Nice layout and open plan with pockets of smaller areas to sit in. However, both the male and female toilets were pretty poor and not only lacked in cleanliness, one of the cubicle doors required brute force to be opened from the inside. This resulted in the occupant becoming "trapped" for a period longer than necessary.

Visited with 6 family members. Food was nice enough and arrived promptly. Unfortunately there was a reduced menu and very little choice. The staff should have pointed this out at the time of booking it or when you arrived rather than after you had ordered drinks. Felt a little cheated, other diners left and ate elsewhere. Would have chosen a different pub if we had known about this.

The pub restaurant looked tempting. We went to the restaurant side of the pub where we were waited upon by staff. Two of my family members said their meals were OK, just Ok!
We waited a very long time for our meal, an apology was given.
Then the steak arrived and my husband was not given a
Steak knife! Fortunately the steak was ok to eat.
My Salmon was tasty but the veg I had was disgusting, new potatoes hard and then fried, couldn't get my knife in and the same with the asparagus, could led only just eat the head, not the stem. I like semi cooked veg but this was rediculous.
Considering the meals were expensive and were not enjoyed by us, we won't be going there again.

Has changed ownership again! Although slightly busier than recently the bar area seating needs changing, the place requires a total refit, the decor is shabby and dirty. The Old Beams is an old coaching inn from the outside but the interior is completely out of character, needs money spend on it to restore it to its former glory. We decided not to eat after looking at the menue, food looked OK but not that interesting.
