The staff were friendly and welcoming. The hotel was clean with spacious seating in the bar area with a small but well stocked bar also offering a reasonable choice of bar food. I had the steak baguette which was served with a large portion of crispy chips and salad; quite good value at £7.95.
There is also an Indian restaurant on site although I didn't try it.
The room I stayed in was bright, clean and well appointed including three-seater sofa, sliding wooden shutters, refrigerator and trouser press. The bed was comfortable.
The buffet breakfast was served in the bright, clean restaurant. There was plenty of choice but suffered from the normal buffet problem that the fried eggs were starting to congeal and the bacon, although tasty, had started its transition from bacon to shoe leather. This was not an individual problem with the Bell but a problem with any hotel that keeps food hot in a buffet-style breakfast. However, at £6.95 for the breakfast, it still offered good value compared with other hotels.
Would I stay there again? Well yes and I've stayed there several times before. On each occasion there are indications that the fabric is being maintained and updated.More
