Stayed recently just for one night. The room we booked on Booking.com had been changed so we didnt get the room we requested and when the hotel is full and its 9.30pm, we werent going to reslove this issue. Sadly the room wasnt good. The beds need renewing as they are old and past their best by a long way& the room needed a good clean which is a basic requirement for any hotel. The gents W/C on the ground floor was also dirty. On a plus the staff are friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was good and the hotel is in a very nice setting. Close to Eastbourne.

We were en route to France via the Newhaven Dieppe ferry, so an overnight at Chalk Farm was just right (30 minutes into Newhaven). Lovely friendly staff, especially the very kind lady who provided a cooked breakfast for us even though we needed to have it thirty minutes before the official breakfast time. There's a great pub down the road (five minutes walk) for food in the evening. Only two things let it down--no plug in the sink and could perhaps have been a touch cleaner. But then the price was great and it was all we needed.

Becky and her team of amazing staff gave us the most wonderful wedding day. The hotel is perfect for an intimate wedding, with the run of the hotel which gave our guests privacy to just have fun. It is a beautiful hotel, with views of the downs and delightful gardens with plenty of seating, complete with fairy lights.

The 3 course dinner was delicious, the evening buffet was plentiful and the morning breakfast catered well for all our guests. We were not rushed to leave in the morning.

Becky had thought of everything and have given me great advice for the day.The hotel was spotlessly clean, all the staff were attentive and the honeymoon suite (newly decorated) was very comfortable.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough to anyone looking for a beautiful wedding that does not cost the earth. If you want a relaxed, fun wedding then this is the hotel for you.

Room Tip: Country charm with beautiful grounds
