Brilliant evening in the Middle House's new brasserie. What a room. Glass screen to the garden, sculpted concrete walls uplit in blue, pale flooring, black panels and tables, air-con (how rare in the UK.) Sleek backlit cocktail bar but customers can order Harveys from the main bar too.

Food is just as good as main restaurant but expanded - without 'expanding' the prices. First rate food, beautifully presented - ranging from Brit faves to slightly more exotic specials. Knives, forks, plates, table layout and equipment matches the theme of the decor. Crisp, clean and modern.

One of the best features was the standard of service, friendly, not intrusive, knowledgeable and quick. This hotel and restaurant goes from strength to strength and the brasserie will add a youthful vibe to the customer base.

Only downside for us (and we are old) was the level of noise. But this was the night before Mother's Day and there were lots of big parties. I'd broken two ribs the week before so possibly was not in the best frame of mind to sit it out late!

But we'll be back. We love this place.

Lunched here today. Lovely old 16th century Inn. The food flavours combined superbly. Helpful and friendly staff. Very enjoyable experience. I had the loin of venison with dauphinois and creamed mash with red cabbage and sultana jus. My son had mushroom fallafel creamy linguine. Delicious!

Great food, but very disappointed to arrive and find most of the restaurant filled with children eating pizza and burgers.... even Wetherspoons have an 8pm limit on children.
Spoilt the experience we usually have at the middle house.
We had a longer than usual wait to be seated and served...
Also.... such a shame that the new extension can be seen in all its mirrored modernness from the beautiful original eating area.... just spoils it!
Lovely staff, but whoever designed or accepted the design for the extension needed to think again.
Such a shame ☹️

Valentines Dinner in the new brasserie was amazing! I have been many times to the middle house, however sat in the pub end.
From the moment we walked into the brasserie everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The table was laid out beautifully with little surprises!
The food was amazing, i'm not overly keen on steak, however i thought i'd try something different. It was cooked to perfection!
The pudding of chocolate textures was fantastic as well, perfect end to a great evening.
Highly recommend and will be coming back!

Lunched here with friends. This is as good as pub food gets.Good range of draught bitters.Friendly efficient service.Well cooked food with good portions.Varied menu with tempting specials board. We sat and chatted for ages afterwards without the staff being the least bit disturbed, which is such a change from most pubs! Would I eat here again? Well actually I did a fortnight later and it was just as good.
