Based on available options in Knox county Door 142 was better than most. I loved the renovation of an old downtown store basic and clean. Although not an original idea hanging art for sale on wall was a nice touch. But it was great to have a full service bar in Fredericktown Ohio! Up to opening Door 142 the options were pizza times 3.
The Food was a pleasant change to what is available in most of Knox county. The food was definitely prepared from scratch which was a nice change. I had the chicken cacciatore the chicken had been previously frozen and leaned on the dry and chewy side. I am not sure what the tomato gastrique was for it had little to no flavor and should be the star of any cacciatore? But the start of the dish was the Pasta, it was a mornay sauce with caramelized onions that I could not stop eating.
The bacon wrapped jalapenos were HOT! but very good. The chicken wings were OK but again dry and chewy.
They got busy and only had one server that got behind but was pleasant in spite of being rushed. There was a bartender and another woman at the bar that worked there but seemed to be oblivious that the server was slammed and did nothing to help. I am not sure what the expectation is from the owners I am afraid that this could be a lost gem if the owners and staff get complacent your not there yet.
