First I have to say that the food was spectacular. Every dish was beautiful in its presentation and every bite was excellent. I highly recommend the cheese board: the gentleman who presented the cheeses was enthusiastic about them (more than 15 from which to choose), and he was knowledgeable about all of the them. Our primary server seemed to be pretty new to the staff: she wasn't familiar with the menu, but she was kind and attentive. Her pronunciation of items needed training (i.e. souffle was pronounced SOO-full) and she wasn't sure which main dishes were most popular on the menu. We plan to go back to EDWINS and take friends, introducing them to delicious "cuisine for a cause." We also hope to get the same server, because I'd love to see how she has grown with more experience.

Loved this restaurant and it’s mission to give back to the community as well. Our meals were amazing. Very knowledgeable staff helped us through cheese and wine choices and everything was impeccable. The best and most unusual appetizer was a seafood sausage. Entree portions were generous and staff was extremely attentive. We went with my mom on a beautiful summer-like night in October.

The food was excellent and the service was great. They had some trainees but always the pro is right behind them not to make them feel like they don't know what to do, but to guide them through so they look great. Such team work.

On Saturday 9/30/17 I had another fine meal at Edwin's. This was the 3rd time in as many months that I have eaten there. Every meal was excellent, the staff friendly and efficient even though it was a busy Saturday night. I had a remarkable soup that contained a sweet potato base with parsnip and apple thrown in for a very interesting mixture of flavors that worked quite well. On the main menu I recommend the duck breast, guinea hen and/or grouper wrapped in a potato crust. For desert go with the delicious clauphie (Spelling a pure guess). This is easily one Cleveland's best restaurants and definitely the best French influenced restaurant in town.

Their program to teach life and work skills to people who are coming back from bad life choices is much needed and very admirable. Having said that, if I were to critique the restaurant solely on their food and service, I would have to say that there is room for improvements.

The venue itself is perfect, located in lively and lovely Shaker Square. If there is no parking available in the square itself, there are many free options in lots behind the businesses or on the neighborhood side streets. The interior design is reminiscent of a French cafe, in some ways formal and in others casual and intimate. There is a very nice ambiance, making it a great choice for a romantic evening.

Service was thorough, if uneven. There were no less than five people attending to us, and the host and the man who served the cheese were very professional. Our primary server, though sweet and attentive, didn't know the menu at all, so there is a big learning curve to overcome. She should shadow a highly experienced server until she reaches the necessary level of competency.

The food was very good, although some dishes need reworking. The guinea hen entree was perfectly cooked and delicious, but the pasta with rabbit was salty and forgettable (and the small bits of rabbit were tough and scarce). The chocolate pyramid dessert was phenomenal, but the coffee was weak. The cheese selection is truly impressive and I highly suggest you order some. The server did an excellent job of describing what looked like 25+ different selections laid out on a serving board and suggesting which ones paired well.

With one beer, two appetizers, two entrees and one dessert, the bill exceeded $100 (before the tip, which is tax deductible). The high prices help this very important program, so that makes it well worthwhile. Even though the meal we had wasn't perfect, it was a wonderful experience overall, so we would dine there again and recommend it to others.

Go to their website, edwinsrestaurant.org, to see some short videos about what they are doing and have planned for the future. There is also a short documentary, called Knife Skills, showing at film festivals. The film was recommended by Anthony Bourdain.
