Heading west towards Roma in South West Queeensland are miles of emptiness and normally Chinchilla would not be on the horizon. But as the rain pelted down a break from the tent was sought. And what a surprise is was... The Laurels of Chinchilla is just wonderful. Exquisite rooms built by the owner, a cosy lounge and fire in the main house and great food prepared by your hosts...and all served with charm and hosts who just made you feel at home. Take time, stop and enjoy this hidden delight!

Room Tip: Each room is different, but will appeal to many seeking the comforts of home.

This is one place I would recommend to my best friends. Absolutely charming hosts and a beautiful iconic location near Chinchilla. The rooms (or cabins as may may be the case) are tastefully furnished in a funky rustic country style and the beds are very comfortable. The Bathrooms are modern and functional. Self service full breakfast is available on the main building's verandah in the morning and your hosts will prepare a great dinner for you if you choose to eat 'at home' with them and other guests, which can become a very pleasant evening indeed. Room rates and the charge for meals and drinks are very reasonable. Absolutely a place to fall in love with. I will be coming back again and again.

Room Tip: Cabins are probably the best choice. More roomy and quieter (if that is possible!)

I highly recommend a stay at The Laurels. It has the most beautiful setting, set back from the highway. Once you are there you feel a million miles away. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable and everyone has their own piece of paradise. The hosts are extremely friendly and welcoming and are happy to cook an evening meal if needed In fact we were so comfortable that we stayed there most of the day and just soaked up the atmosphere. Will recommend it to all my friends

Where do I start? This is the most sublime couples accommodation I have ever stayed at and that is saying a lot. Shara (partner Greg was away) is the hostess with the mostess! Hubby & I stayed in the River Cottage with our 2 fur babies & I couldn't have asked for anything more perfect! My sister in law stayed in another cabin that I also drooled over. If you are looking for a perfect get away for you & your partner this is it!! A love of quirkiness helps as does a love of good food cooked by Shara. Chinchilla itself doesn't have a huge amount to offer but when you want to relax who cares!

The 'River Cottage', where we spent the night, was a step back 100 years to a time and place that was incredibly rustic yet so totally comfortable that we found ourselves enchanted. A deck over the river, a campfire, steaks on the barbie, and a moonlit evening... how could it be otherwise? And the beautiful setting, and the most accommodating hosts, and you have a destination we would come back to every time when anywhere near Chinchilla. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
