The day we went it was, thankfully, not very busy. It was warm inside but the baked potato was not really that good. Maybe it was the fault of the potato and not of the chef. the restaurant was clean with a beautiful view , if the mist would allow it to be.
I think this could be a very busy and expensive pleasure.

A day to blow the cobwebs from the motor home. We like Carsington and the weather was sunny but cold! So we wandered into the Mainsail and decided on a 3 course for £10 deal. It was quite remarkable. Delightful subtle flavours, perfect veggies and delicious desert in quantities suited to enjoying all three courses.

Marvelous presentation and excellent service with wonderful views and an atmosphere that was warm with the air of friends in the room who appeared familiar with the place. I would recommend booking as I think we were fortunate to walk in as we did.

This may have tipped the balance for buying a season ticket for the car park. A real bargain at £38. Wish I could scratch another star in!

Unexpectedly good - this is a in Severn Trent amenity, not somewhere one would expect to find a really good restaurant! But that what it is - from simply the best scones in Derbyshire (and probably beyond) to clever, tasty modern dishes served with panache. The menu is always interesting, with at least one dish that is a surprise because it is so different. And who would expect eye catching 'run-outs' on plates in such an unpreposing setting?

Good service too, always a warm smiling welcome. And the views out over Carsington Water are lovely too.
