“A little gem behind the green door”
Reviewed 25 February 2016 for a stay in February 2016

Stayed here with two young children who loved top and tailing in the other bedroom. Fully equipped and an ideal base location, what else can you say when an award winning fish and chip shop is 30 seconds walk from the door. Friendly host who laid on the arrangements. For us, we really enjoyed this cosy cottage which is a quiet little gem especially when you close the green door and find yourself in the secluded patio area which in summer would be the perfect setting for BBQ and beers.

“Lovely cottage in a great location”
Reviewed 29 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Frith's Cottage proved to be a fantastic surprise. Situated right in the heart of Ashbourne in its busy, vibrant marketplace we kind of envisaged noisy, sleeples nights but not a bit of it. The cottage proved to be a tranquil oasis with tall surrounding buildings cutting out most of the volume. The cottage also provided an ideal location for us to discover the delights of the Peak District; Chatsworth House, Buxton, Bakewell, Matlock Bath and The Heights of Abraham. For cycling enthusiasts like us there's the Tissington Trail and nearby Carsington Water and walkers won't want to miss the stunning scenery of Dovedale.

The cottage is welcoming with its wooden beams, spiral staircase and comfortable beds
as well as having mod cons. We were both sorry to leave but hope to return sometime.

“Very Convenient for the Town”
Reviewed 30 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Travelled with grandsons aged 10 and 5. The location was excellent and the cottage had everything that was needed. The added touches of washing up liquid, clothes etc, was ideal and meant that you didn't have to rush out and buy everything when you got there. Although itwas in the market place once you went through to the courtyard you could not hear any noise. I parked in the market square every night which was good as I failed to find the public car parks. Market is on Thursday and Saturday but if you park at the bottom near the cottage overnight that is okay as the market does not go that far. Would recommend as a place to stay.

“Home from home - ideal for a family self-catering holiday”
Reviewed 25 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

I, my wife and daughter spent ten days of fantastic time at Frith’s Cottage. Despite being in the very centre of the town (access through a narrow locked passage from the market square), and thus extremely convenient for shopping and public transport (3-4 mins on foot from bus station, 3 mins from Coop and Waitrose markets), the place feels very safe and homely: no strangers can get into the green and pleasant inner yard, where you can eat meals, read books and dry your clothes. The market place can be noisy on weekend nights, but is otherwise very quiet, and the historic, lively town is a wonderful place for walks and eating out (if only the council removed heavy traffic from the centre! But fortunately one does not feel or hear it at all in the cottage.) Furniture is solid, double beds – large and comfortable, modern central heating with remote control works perfectly, as also do all the facilities, including the freshly installed broadband. The house has everything you need for a self-catering holiday, plus plenty of space, spacious wardrobes and drawers to put your things. It is ideal for anyone using the public transport (which British people do not seem to appreciate as much as we do on the continent), as there are bus connections to all tourist attractions in the Peak District, to Alton Towers, as well as for cyclists and hikers (the possibility to rent bikes in town for up to two days at a reasonable prices; wonderful cycling trails in the National Park, with gentle inclines). The tourist information centre is a stone’s throw away in the square, and there are plenty of guides and maps in a cupboard in the kitchen. Marc was very attentive and extremely kind, always available on the phone if we needed anything. We always rent self-catering family accommodation on our journeys throughout Europe; this was definitely one of the best holiday homes we have lived in, and excellent value for the money. We felt as in grandma’s good old cottage – it was home from home! We would certainly like to return one day.

“A lovely cottage in a lovely place”
Reviewed 13 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Myself, my wife and one of my sons have just stayed three nights in the beautiful Derbyshire town of Ashbourne and at Frith's cottage. The cottage is lovely, totally as described in the details on tripadvisor and is wonderfully situated right in the centre of Ashbourne, literally seconds from everything but in a quiet and peaceful courtyard. There are lovely walks and cycle rides nearby and just minutes from entering the Peak district and its beautiful scenery. I cannot fault this cottage in any way and especially liked the coffee table book about a famous local football team < COYRs > as mentioned by some others parking is a tint issue but if you don't mind the few minutes walk from the recreation ground then this small inconvenience is totally out weighed by the fabulous location right in the heart of Ashbourne.
