Although having visited the area on many occasions, our visit to the Duke William was our walking groups' first. The food was very good value indeed with a reasonable choice and the beers were of good condition.A spacious lounge area leads to a very welcoming open fire with plenty of room for diners.A surprising feature for our party was a television bar with Sky t.v.

Thank Christopher J

Stopped half way round a days cycle ride on our tandem. Had a cracking pint of proper ale and our roast dinners couldn't have been better and were excellent value. We were well fuelled for our long cycle home! We've been here several times and will be coming back.

We both had steak and chips here for a ridiculously low price - around £10 each!! For the price, it was very good, the night we ate, there was a live event on, which was fine. The only problem was that when we went to pay, they did not have card payment service, so nearly had an embarrassing situation of non-payment, however, scraped the money together. In their defence, they did say that we could return in the morning to settle up!! How very trusting. Would recommend.

We were recommended the Duke William a couple of years ago by a local B&B owner and have visited regularly during the summer months ever since. I was disappointed to read the recent bad reviews as I've always found the food served here is good wholesome fayre and at around £5 per head represents good value for money. Yes the portions can sometimes be on the moderate side but adequate for any normal adult appetite. As with any other establishment larger portions would be reflected in the price and those who refer to the Duke William as a "Rip Off" would do well to remember this.
