This is the 3rd time this year we have stayed at this site and we enjoy the peacefulness and beautiful surroundings. It is central to Windermere and Ambleside, set in Troubeck valley, with hills and beautiful views.
The on site shop is well stocked for any forgotten items although slightly pricey. There is a great children's play area and a field for dog walking and one for ball games. The river running through the middle is ideal for paddling this time of year and in the summer the children swam in it. A bit on the chilly side but great fun! The pub has reasonably priced meals and local beers, a large outdoor terrace overlooking the fells. Staff are helpful and informative.
We have stayed once in a lodge booked direct with the owner and twice in the hire fleet of caravans booked through South Lakeland holidays. Sadly this is our last stay in a caravan as ALL the hire fleet caravans are being removed from site at the end of this year. This is to make way for more lodges. We feel this is a real shame as the caravans only took up one small area called Ullswater in a central cul de sac. They provided more budget priced accomodation for those people using the site as a base to explore and not wanting to pay lodge prices. We enjoyed the lodge for a main holiday in the summer but would not pay the extra for a short weekend break.

Just returned home tonight from an excellent weekend at Limefitt. Obviously it was not too busy at this time of year, but most of the on site facilities are still operating. The site is very clean and well maintained. The Haybarn pub I must mention too, it is excellent, friendly staff, lovely decor, plenty for the kids to do safely, decent beer and most importantly excellent bar meals. The prices are standard pub prices too rather than inflated prices. We ate there both nights! Booked again for a week in Easter 2012 - can't wait!

Just returned from a weeks holiday in a wonderful wooden lodge (Tarn hows) on Liimefitt park. Perfect setting with wonderful views and many walks straight from park up to the fells. Reception staff pleasant and helpful. The Haybarn pub on site was very nice.
We look forward to returning ASAP.

Just returned from a week’s holiday with our Labrador dog at Limefitt Park. The accommodation was perfect; clean and modern with wonderful views. The staff at reception were very welcoming and the shop was good for basics requirements. We also visited the onsite pub on more than one occasion. I understand it has been recently refurbished and was cosy and welcoming. The food was good value pub grub just what we needed after our long walks. It was great that we could take the dog in the pub and he certainly enjoyed laying by the fire being fed dog biscuits by the staff. All the staff were very attentive and polite. Limefitt is ideally situated for many walks and close to the dog friendly town of Ambleside.
We are looking forward to visiting again next year.
