The hotel is in a splendid position over looking Lake Derwentwater at the front and having a natural water fall at the back. The gardens are well kept and have an abundance of wild birds, water fowl and red squirrels , the gardener is a friendly chap who takes the time to point out the best places to see the various species.
Inside the hotel is superb, spotless and comfortable with open fires and a lounge divided in to intimate areas thus losing the feeling of wide open spaces.
The staff are attentive without being fussy and nothing is too much trouble for them.
The food is magnificent and the table service superb making dining a wonderful experience.
Would love to go again.

Room Tip: Ask for alake view room.

This was a 2 night dbb break with hubby ands friends. Haven;t stayed in a better hotel in this country. Food was excellent canapes and cocktails before dinner and then a 4 course followed by coffee and mints in lounge. The rooms were beautiful beds superb. The staff were very friendly nothing too much trouble. The downstairs toilets used small towels to dry hands on which I have never seen before. Never got to use pool or hot tub but will certainly be going back when we have saved up again and giving it a go. Well done to everyone

Room Tip: 2nd floor has fantastic views

The hotel overlooks a wonderful lake in a picturesque location. It is off the beaten track near to the town of Keswick. A scenic waterfall flows down the cliffs at the rear of the hotel. This hotel is very popular with walkers and is dog friendly. There were also a number of elderly residents enjoying the hotel's deals.

There is some external maintenance ongoing, so if you want a peaceful morning avoid rooms near to the work which starts at 8am.

The room was very spacious, modern and nicely decorated. Spectacular views of the lake from open french doors. lLarge flatscreen tv and stereo were also fitted to the room. Selection of Tea, coffee and biscuits provided daily. It was regularly cleaned and towels were replaced daily. Excellent comfortable beds.

Friendly, polite and helpful staff throughout the hotel. The majority appeared to be from Balkans. The food choice, presentation and quality was excellent at all meals. Smoked haddock for breakfast was divine.

Free parking, conference facilties and wifi at this hotel. There is no sky tv or mobile signal except in the front lawn of the hotel.

Spa facility and wedding planning available but neither used.

All in all a great place to stay, relax and enjoy.

Thanks

stayed at this hotel on a travelzoo deal, 5th - 7th march .this is an excellent hotel ,in a lovely location, peace and quiet.....the room was at the back of the hotel looking up the cliff( book a room at the front for the view over the lake) but we could hear the waterfall at night, very calming.the room itself was very clean and fresh,as was the bathroom. the food was really well presented, very fresh and tasty, and served by a very smart waiting staff ...full marks for the chef and the hotel manager for making this a memorable stay.....thank you

Room Tip: pay extra for a lake facing room
