“A tranquil, warm-hearted home-from-home”

Being an author who also has family connections in "The County" I was drawn to this delightful home as somewhere to hang my hat and work for a week as well as entertain friends and family. Little did I know what an even more splendid choice it would be.

The Summerhouse is quite the most gorgeous, welcoming and homely rental property you could ever imagine. It's a million miles from the average rental you might get for the same price, because it offers every home comfort you could possibly want - plus the charm and cordial embrace you can only remember from grandma's days.

In the description it says all you need to bring is food, wine and bath towels. You might think that's a bit glib, but the reality is absolutely true. Everything you could possibly want to read, drink out of, eat off, cook with or otherwise benefit from is there in abundance. What a stark difference from the run-of-the-mill!

I don't have young children any more but if I did, the Summerhouse would be a perfect choice, too. With its family-friendly layout, huge enclosed back yard and close proximity to the lake and nearby beaches and other attractions, it would have been a prime choice for me when my son and his pals were small.

Almost within walking distance you have Foodland, a veggie market, an LCBO, a drugstore and a number of good restaurants. And the lake is just a block away, although if you want safe beaches those are a drive away - and Lynn, the heroic landlady, provides us with a free pass to the key beach areas in the county.

I hesitate to say more, but only because I'm hoping to book The Summerhouse in 2016 ... and given its amazing charm and old-fashioned-but-solid hospitality, I'd be very surprised to find it available. OK, I'll get in line now...

Thank you for your kind review, it was a pleasure and a privilege hosting your stay in The County.
I'm glad you were quiet, comfortable and cool as that week was a hot one.
You are welcome to come again any time.
One minor revision - bring your own beach towels. Lots of bath towels are provided.

“A Perfect Place to Explore the Bounty of the County”
Reviewed 5 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

This lovely home -- exactly as advertised and pictured in the ad was made even better because of its location in lovely Wellington. Some of the county's most outstanding wineries and art galleries are close by. Also within walking distance is an irresistible ice cream shop, the LCBO, a good sized grocery and access to all of the newspapers. Add easy walks to 4 top-notch restaurants and, speaking of walks, early morning latte at Tall Poppy is a good way to start the day -- a nice morning walk from Summerhouse and then a kilometer or so on the Millenium Trail. The yard is enormous and my dog and grandchildren loved it, but also close by is an outstanding town park.

“Wonderful place!”

Travelled with my wife and 2 children and also our friends with their own child, so it was the 7 of us all together and the cottage was more than adequate for our needs. The house is clean and well maintained and has a full kitchen with all plates etc... even though you cant tell from the pictures..i have expressed to the owner that she changes or adds photos so people can see the full cottage. The A/c works perfectly..brand new and all the furniture is very well maintained and clean. There are 2 full baths, and two of the rooms can be converted into king beds..which was GREAT. Outdoors there is a new BBQ and a great sitting area with canopy. There are lots of toys in house for kids and lots of music cd's to play. The selection of movies is not there so bring your own as the satellite sometimes kicks in and out when there is bad weather or it's cloudy. Would stay again!

20 mins to Sandbanks and 15 mins to North Beach. The parking pass included works at both.

LCBO is a 3 minute walk east....so no need to bring all your booze!

Lynn was so pleasant to deal with. Her home was very clean and everything you would need is provided. We especially enjoyed dinners outside in the gazebo and the short walk to the Wellington kids park. Wellington is situated in a perfect location to get to Sandbanks and many other attractions.

We absolutely love the house! Very clean. New beds at bedrooms at a second floor. We were with kids and they liked huge backyard and toys that were there in the house.
