not much to say with this eatery.
Menu is unoriginal and uninspiring. The only reason we ate here was because we had a gift certificate.
Presentation of food was poor and unappetizing. Food is just average. This place looks and feels like the 1990's including the menu and cocktails. There are far better places to spend your hard earned money in the Hamilton area. Keep driving...James Street South & North , King William streets offer a much better dining experience.

We were at Cavallo Nero in December with another couple and we loved it. The atmosphere was great, the food was great and our guests picked a good bottle of wine to go with our meal. We were so impressed that we came back again in January with another couple. It just was not the same experience. The food was just ok, a little on the dry side. The service was hit and miss with servers reaching all over the place when there was clearly enough room to serve us properly. We love to come back again because it's fairly local we're just not sure which experience we'd get the third time around. I'd recommend trying it however.

Reservations are a must for Saturday dinner. This is a very popular restaurant in Ancaster ON.
3 of us had pizza and my wife had chicken. My friend had a fig and duck pizza, another had a margarita pizza and I had a pepperoni, salami and mushroom pizza. All dinners were delicious. We also had 2 bottles of reasonably priced wine. The bill before tip was $200.

This place struggles with consistency. I’ve been a number of times and it truly is a gamble how the visit will go. Let’s start with the front end. Employing high school aged hostess and wait staff can go one of two ways, and most of the time you get what you pay for. Professional wait staff clear appetizer plates and don’t hand you your food to set on the table yourself, they place it in front of you. Students are hard pressed to provide insight into the wine list, so you’re on your own if there’s anything new you may be contemplating. My food has been good on occasion but generally overly salted. In fairness this is a personal preference, but a little more creativity in the spice cupboard and attention during preparation can help. The bar is a wonderful place to sit for a drink and the room is comfortable and bright, the goal here for 2018 should be a consistent customer experience.
