Check in was easy and very pleasant. All staff we interacted with were lovely. Our room was very basic. Clean and comfortable beds, the bathroom was renovated and quite good but there was no towel bar. No dresser or any drawers at all. The closet had a fold up cot in it so it was difficult to hang anything up. The carpeting was new so that was good. There was a small fridge and coffee maker, not good coffee and no tea at all. Quite expensive for what we got, but I think that has to do with where we were and what is available. Not a disaster but not first class either. We had a somewhat view of the water.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hebridean Motel, the check in process was quick and informative, the bed was comfortable and clean. The staff members were pleasant. The BEST part of Port Hood though would be the views!

The best part of this motel would be the people....friendly and helpful.

Our room was clean but nothing special. Equipped with TV, mini-fridge, coffee pot & hairdryer. WIFI was available.

The outside was a little rough, but the inside made up for it. Might be a little pricey for what it is....$113.78 with taxes......more like a $50.00 motel in the States.

Most people, when the cross the Canso Causeway into Cape Breton, head straight up to Baddeck. IMHO, they're missing one of the most majestic parts of the Cabot Trail. It's a nice leisurely drive from the Tourist Information booth up the west side of the Strait of Canso up to Port Hood.

A lot of people arrive mid-afternoon at the Canso Causeway and are looking for lodgings for the night. Baddeck seems to be the most popular place to stay. However, if you're looking for that different adventure, head up to Port Hood and stay for the evening. The Hebridean Motel is a simple rustic motel ... nothing fancy ... simplicity is the word. Clean. Fresh. And at a very good price. A short walk away is the Clove Hitch Bar & Bistro which usually has lobster on the menu. The town of Port Hood is an interesting place to visit.

Room tip: Choose a room with a view of the ocean.

This Motel has the Bare necessities period! It quite old and in need of some TLC but very clean!! The lady who checked us in was very nice , giving us advice on where to eat, etc. Beautiful sunsets from this area!
