The cabins are back off the highway but are easy to find. They are not in town. Our cabin had a great view of the water. From its high perch. The rooms are small and the kitchen area is tiny, as is the dinning table and the TV, but the beds are fine and the bedrooms are adequate. The hot and cold water ratios need to be tweaked but by in large all was fine.

We spent 3 nights here and it was very comfortable. The cottage was quite clean, and though a bit of wear on some of the furniture was evident it was all functional. We loved having a small kitchen area with a full sized coffee pot. It was stocked well enough for us to cook in one night. The wifi was usually quite good, with slow spots on occasion. We liked the location, outside of the downtown area but close enough to be there in minutes. The only small ding was the freezer in the small frig took about 24 hrs. to make ice, and never did freeze a full sized freeze pack in a day and a half. But that's minor. The view is gorgeous.

We were travelling with another couple and we shared a two bedroom cottage. The cottage was everything we hoped for. Clean, very well appointed and with comfortable beds. The view from our balcony was stunning and a delight to wake up to. Our host, Verne McIntyre was friendly and accommodating. We were delighted with our stay and will return.

The perfect spot to use as a base when traveling in Cape Breton or to read a book on the deck overlooking Bras D'or Lake. The cottage was spotless and had everything I needed. Verne and Ron are wonderful hosts. They and their staff are friendly and very helpful with suggestions of sites and distances. I will return to their cottages.

My husband and I stayed at McIntyre's Cottages for 3 nights in August. The cottages are located approximately 5 km west of Baddeck, a very easy drive.

We stayed in cottage #7 which really is more like a small condo than what you would typically think of as a 'cottage'. All the comforts of home are included from a nice Queen-sized bed, a fireplace, a couple of hot plates and kitchen outfitted with such things as coffee and pots and pans. You could easily make some meals here if that was what you wanted to do while on vacation. There was daily light housekeeping and changing of towels during our stay.

We drove the Cabot trail and did a day trip to Louisburg while we stayed at McIntyre's. It's a bit of a drive but location-wise I think it was a good central location for doing both of these things. We loved Baddeck with it's quiet atmosphere and the restaurants and friendly people.

The woman who checked us in at McIntyre's was very friendly and helpful providing lots of information and directing us to where we could get more information on area attractions.

The only downside we experienced was that the WiFi was painfully slow to almost be completely unusable. I'm not sure if it's always like that or just when we visited but we didn't inquire as we weren't on vacation to be on the internet all the time.

We would totally recommend McIntyre's cottage and when we come back to Cape Breton to truly do justice to the Cabot trail, we will try again to stay here.
