We enjoyed our stay at the Ocean View Hotel. Room was clean and well maintained. The breakfast was excellent in the mornings. Hotel staff was very helpful too us weary travellers. It is in a good location with lots of things to do that our close.

Nice looking on the outside. Very dated on the inside. Non-existent internet. The brochures will say they have internet, but it works intermittently and only if you are sitting in the lobby. I asked the attendant to reboot the modem. That worked for a little while. It appears to me the owners are spending money on things that arr appealing on the outside, but not spending money on the inside. Needs new carpet throughout. Unfortunately, they have little competition in town. As long as the travel companies use Ocean View, there will probably be no improvements.

Room Tip: As near as possible to the front office

My room was on the ground floor and had a great view of the water, even though it was off to the side of the building. Kind of a bonus really as I didn't have the noise of the main street but still had the view. The room and furnishings were new and plush, and the bed was really comfortable. The negative was that the plumbing was noisy and that noise travelled from room to room so that, if your neighbour was showering, you'd know it. Not good if you were trying to sleep. The internet was basically non-existent, but that happens around parts of Newfoundland. It would just be nice to know this in advance.

Monday nights they have a local band do a party night - 8 pm to about 10:30 for $40, but worth it to experience good musicians who can give you the flavour of the province, culture and people. Not sure what months they run it though, and make sure to buy your tickets in advance as they sell out consistently. You'll need to be in the pub area around 6 pm and have food there to be able to get a decent seat. Everyone camps out that way.

Room Tip: You want a room facing the waterfront. I preferred at the side, rather than the front, to lessen the street noise but still have the view.

Nothing outstanding about this place, lots of bus tours making the restaurant busy and a pretty simple motel kind of place. We stayed there for a week while we used it as a base for exploring Gros Morne. Now that we have seen the area, wished we had broken the week up into perhaps 2 different places, there are some very pretty B and B ‘s, and lots of interesting things to see and do. Did lots of hiking and wandering and then came back to the motel...and the constant music playing outside from the restaurant across the street!!!! Jeez!

Loved staying at this quaint hotel which was located across the street from the ocean! Beautiful view from our hotel room that also had an outside balcony to enjoy the views!
Staff were more than welcoming and very helpful. Rooms were very clean and quiet.
If I had to put a negative thought down, it would be about their towels. They were very thin so updating them would room up even more!
