Smithers Guesthouse
Reviewed 13 September 2017

We stayed four nights in the Smithers Guesthouse. Wendy was really welcoming and the room (#2) exceeded our expectations.

The Guesthouse is on Main Street, not far from downtown. The rooms are mostly upstairs where there is a kitchen and common room. The floors are hardwood and it is expected that you take off your shoes. There is a deck with a hot tub, for those so inclined.

The room itself was roomy with a king sized bed and a futon. It had a large bathroom with a double sink, wardrobe, dresser and a separate toilet and shower area off to the side. We had to ask to have the wardrobe unlocked to hang things, but Wendy was accommodating.

The only possible downsides were the parking which could get tense if all rooms were booked and everyone drove and the noise from other guests who have bathrooms across the hall from their room. This made noise as they opened and closed both sets of doors during the night and flushed next to our room. The shower was old school with separate taps for hot and cold and it was difficult to get a suitable temperature.

On the plus side was the bed which was super comfortable and the spaciousness. As previously mentioned Wendy was super. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Room 2 is the best

A great place to stay in Smithers! Clean rooms, great kitchen facility and spacious shared living room. The breakfast was also amazing. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We would definitely book here again on a trip to Smithers.

Stayed one night in June on way to Prince Rupert, the room was very clean as was the whole guesthouse. Breakfast was excellent I only wish we had been able to stay longer, there is certainly enough to do in Smithers to merit a two or three night stay. The guesthouse is located within easy walking distance of the downtown area and very quiet at night. Could not fault the location or the hospitality.

Another great stay at the guesthouse. We had room number two. It has a super comfy king bed and a large ensuite. The place is always clean, neat and tidy.
The location is prime. Close to grocery stores and restaraunts.
Thanks Garrett and Wendy

Going and coming from Haida Gwaii, I experienced two comfortable overnights here. My room was spacious: king bed, en suite, lots of towels. Access to the well-appointed kitchen met my needs, as did the friendly common dining and living spaces. Especially nice was sitting on the large deck while shaking off the kinks after long drive. Hot tub was available, but I didn't use. My room and all the amenities were up one flight of stairs. Hosts were great.
